Well, I had a a couple free minutes and an unused exhaust laying around the shop.
We shall see how my wife feels about it.

I need to come by the shop to hear what this sounds like

Yeah I think the TIP makes a BIG difference. The stock thing you see above, cut off of the stock muffler, sounds like crap IMO.

Excuse me if I missed it, but how did you go about cutting it so that it sounds decent? I just wanted the tip to point down, which is the reason I cut it that way.

No yeah that's what I'm thinking, I'm just not certain. I cut mine and feel like it sounds too raspy this why. Kind of tinny. I see FM and Hookes sells like a straight/tailpipe with a chrome tip and they say it "gives it a nice sound", etc but I wonder if they are just full of crap and it sounds the same way, or if the tip/cut/shape/size actually changes the tone somehow.

I did the same, cut it low near where the muffler was, kind of angled down a little and mostly out.

Should make your Jeep be greener, get better mileage, ........
I believe those claims are correct...because an engine that won't run doesn't burn any fuel.

I have seen some tips that are similar to a small glasspack though that might take a little bit of the bark out of a muffler eliminator.

Sounds surprisingly good. A little more aggressive than my AFE RB exhaust.
I haven't had a chance to drive it on the highway since my wife just dropped me off at work and had to get back home to pick up our son from school. I did however call her and ask if she had any drone/resonance on the highway and she said no, and that she liked the sound a lot.

I will report back when I have a chance to drive it farther than around the block.

Don't sound to bad really. I may have to order the flowmaster pipe and give it a try. Thanks for the sound clip Chris.

I could easily add a resonator shortly after the factory resonator by cutting the piping, but I don't really see the point if my wife is happy with it? It would be difficult to add one after the current pipe as it is not round. If I cut it off directly at the muffler it might be possible, but you don't have a lot of space to clamp on a tip before it goes from round to the flat oval shape. It would also then be pointing straight out unless I find a tip that turns down. I like that this one points down and doesn't have a tip that can get sandwiched between the bumper and a rock.

I had the Flowmaster muffler delete pipe on my JL for a bit. It was a little too harsh for me. My wife HATED it. I pulled it off and put the AFE Rockbasher 3" cat back exhaust. Sounds quite a bit better.
