Good advice. Lots of people are still unaware that the JL uses the PUG engine, unlike the JK which was also produced at the same time.@Goin2drt
Just be sure to mention to the Service Writer to note your work order that only 5 qts. of oil are to be used!
.
So, you're saying the oil could change color for a reason other than capturing wear materials and breaking down chemically itself?Color is irrelevant, and unless you hail from the planet Krypton or you've figured out a way to analyze the chemical composition and suspended particulates with the naked eye, it's impossible. Really.
Or you could pay Blackstone to analyze samples for you.
C'mon man...everybody knows that the oil goes dark because it's becoming more and more contaminated with wear metals, chemicals, and thermal breakdown. This isn't rocket science. The water in your washing machine looks different 5 minutes after you turn it on too. I guess this has nothing to do with the dirt coming out of your clothes?
To get back on topic.. I changed my oil filter at 2,500 miles and then had my first service done at the dealership for free at 5,000 miles. Have three more free oil changes remaining. Nobody should pass up on free synthetic oil changes.
