Good morningGood morning, Dan![]()
Not bad when you consider it.True. But it takes a few years to recoup... I think our well was just over $10k.
The Sewer rate is set at 159% of the water charges. As of July 1, 2018, water costs $3.90 per 100 cubic feet (748 gallons) and the combined cost of water and sewer is $10.10 per 100 cubic feet. The minimum water and sewer charge per metered household remains at $1.27 per day.
That is what mine says combined in town with the 20ish Ive been getting at highway speedJust took another quick jaunt with Wrikki. Her avg mpg meter says 17.9. I just filled her up and fuelly says 16.6 for latest and 17.3 avg. Pretty close I guess.
I pay $43/quarter for water only, we have septic. We are allowed thousands of gallons and never even come close. Not bad when you consider it.
New York's rates are here:
Between mountain climbing and nekkid driving she has taken a bit of a hit. I started out near 19. But it's all good. We'll see what she does later this year when she's all buttoned up.That is what mine says combined in town with the 20ish Ive been getting at highway speed
As follow up, the average person uses about 100 gallons a day in the USA...so that comes out to about $500/yr...plus misc taxes and fees that push it to about $700 for one person...for two people, it would theoretically cost between $1000 and $1200 a year, making the break-even point at about 10 years. Of course, this varies by fees, rates (which are subject to change), usage, energy needed to run the well (totally ignored in this case) and a slew of other factors. Not bad when you consider it.

tl;dr - based on NYC water rates, the break-even point for a $10k well for a family of two is a decade +/-.![]()
