Hello all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on wheels and tires for my '18 JLUR. My last decision is between 17" & 18" wheels. I'm getting BFG KO2's 35x12.5 with Fuel Vapor wheels. I like the look of a bigger wheel, but they're more expensive. Both wheel and tires come in both sizes. Will a 17" wheel look tiny on a 35" tire?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Ray

Really depends on what your idea of looks is. Many people think 17"s look large on a 35", an 18" even more so.

The 18"s having a larger wheel to tire ratio should help it handle a little better as there is less sidewall in the tire to flex. It's not much and might be hard to feel the difference between the two. I can feel the difference between 15"s and 17s on 35s, but haven't tried 18s on a 35" tire yet.

Another thought is tire purchase in the future. Right now there is a wider selection of 17" tires than 18" and even more so as you go up from 35" tires.

The 17 has more sidewall which is better for off roading, if you’re into that.

Thanks for the replies! I went with the 17" wheel. They should be in in a week or two. I'll make sure to post up photos.
Pics? I'm considering the Fuel Vapor so it would be nice to see how they look on your Jeep.

@bongoray Those wheels look great! What offset did you go with? I saw they are offered in +1 mm and -12 mm.

I to struggled with the choices of 17’s or 18’s but after a few weeks I finally gave way to 17’s and they will be installed when my lift gets done by @TTEChris at Tankcustoms, when talking with Chris he did not sway me one way or another he just presented all the facts that I had no idea on and it was clear to me to go with 17’s

I will post up pics when all done but am going with a RC 2.5” lift and then going to run BFG T/A KO2’s in LT315 70R17 on Method MR312’s that are 17x9’s -12, should look pretty sweet on my red Sahara

Yup. Me and a buddy are runnig that same setup. He's rubbed lightly a few times stacking on top of other jeeps. I haven't yet. The spare fits fine, you'll just need longer rubber stops.
