My temporary solution for protection until someone markets a mudflap. I know it is not pretty, but it is a stop-gap solution that is cheap. I bought $4 all purpose rubber mats from Meijer store, and fasteners from Lowe's store. Popped out some of the plastic plugs and drilled a few holes inside of fender for new attachment points. I also attached one screw to end-cap of rock rail.

Did about 50 miles of dirt forest service roads this weekend. My rear fenders did not fair well.

I added mudflaps didn't do much good but I recently received my Aeries running boards that I had ordered in May and the running boards seem to deflect the rocks away because I don't hear the rocks dislodging when I accelerate up to highway speeds and pelting my fenders anymore. Wish they had not taken forever to get here my fenders might not be as dinged up.

How about a double layer of Duck Tape on the front side of those rear fenders when you know you are going on a track like that. Goes on easy, comes off easy, affords protection. You could even get black Duck Tape... a thought.......................................... sure would be better then destroying the fenders.

My '18 JL RUBY has 3M film on the leading surface of the rear fenders and I've installed "RED" PARACORD in the narrow "WEDGE" between the fenders and sides-

After A DAY OF OFF-ROADING IN THE DESERT--NO DAMAGE OR GRAVEL "STICKEES"

Unless you are doing heavy duty rock crawling, I think a set of Sahara running boards would provide a lot of protection and look factory. I've see several Rubicons on here with them and it looks decent.

That is a great idea, wish I would have done that before trashing my fenders. Oh well, now they have character. I got the standard black ones because I did not like plastic and was hoping to one day upgrade them to aftermarket steel fenders and paint them silver.

Great idea.
I know the 3M film can't take it and you get penetration down into the paint from thrown rocks. Two layers of duck tape will do the job.. Easy on and easy off too.

I'm going to put 3M film on the hinges and rear fenders. My Jeep won't be here for another week. Could someone measure the width of the rear Rubicon fenders for me?
How did the 3m film work for you ? Did you have ACCU TINT do it in Goodlettsville TN ? I had Lucas there do my truck and 4 wheeler . When I get my Rubicon I plan on having it done.

Yeah, it was on there when I picked her up-

So far it does a great job and the PARACORD keeps me from having to "PICK" little critters outta the cracks-
