I'll add that the Hankook Dynapro M/T was the Four Wheeler Magazine mud tire champion a few years ago, and is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, mud terrain tire on the market. Here are some weights in popular sizes for daily driven Jeeps, taken directly from manufacturer data:

255/75-17 = 53.5 lbs.

265/70-17 = 56 lbs.

285/70-17 = 63.5 lbs.
We're not running that size on Rubicon's can you post for 37s please thanks

According to BFG published data, as well as data published by tire retailers, the Rubicon tires are 51 lbs., not 58 lbs. The LT-E rated version is closer to 58 lbs.

Are you saying that the information is wrong, and you've actually weighed a LT-C BFG KO2 by itself on a scale and it was 58 lbs? If so, that's ridiculous for a tire with such low load capacity.
Corrected.

Great post! Nicely done. Thank you for a consistent format (helps make the info consumable).

How about the Geolander G003

I would do 17 s. There are less selections when it comes to 18 s on Wheels and Tires. it's kind of an odd size that's what I've been told and that's what I've always seen when I'm looking for wheels. There are more 17 and 20s when it comes to selections. And if you want that Offroad look I would do more 17 where you have more Tire showing

Is anyone running any of the Mickey Thompson tires? I had those on my previous F-150 and loved them. Just haven't seen any Jeep guys saying they are running them. Curious to know what you guys think.

Mickey Thompson is really popular on the West Coast. here in Texas you don't see too many people running that tire. They say Cooper makes Mickey Thompson tires and Cooper is pretty good tires but everyone told me Mickey Thompson worst out very fast that's just what I've heard

Jeep JL 2-Door with factory wheels and Toyo Open Country R/T 35x12.5 R17. I plan on installing the 2" Mopar lift when it is available, but I don't have any rubbing as it sits. I love that the tires fit in the wheel well - especially with the white! I purchased the reinforcement and relocation brackets for the spare tire but I don't need them. PM me if you want to purchase them (all brand new in the box).

Starting to collect tire pressure and PSI recommendations for tire sizes and types. I'll post them up if others contribute.

I currently have Nitto Ridge Grapplers 315/70/17 E

Nitto recommendations come from a Toyo chart. I believe this to be universal. This can be found in the latter portion of this document : https://www.toyotires.com/media/2125/application_of_load_inflation_tables_20170203.pdf

So the first thing to find out is the size of your stock tire and what the recommended PSI is. (Located on the inner door pannel)

For those that have a Rubicon JLU, that would be 285/70/17 C @ 37 PSI.
Locate the tire size and PSI on the chart and you would see that a tire that size inflated at that pressure was meant to hold 2,189lbs.

Locate the tire size of your NEW tire on the chart and it will list different weight specs at different pressures. For example for my tire:

-----PSI------------------35-------------- 40---45-----50-------------55----60-----65----------
LT315/70R17 Single 2535 (C) 113 2685 2915 3195 (D) 121 3195 3195 3195 (E) 121

A Nitto Ridge Grappler 315/70/17 @ 35 PSI could hold 2535 lbs
Compare that to the 2,189 lbs the stock tires could hold at the recommended 37 PSI. It would be ideal to find the same weight at the right PSI but this data simply doesn't exist. (Probably because these tires were designed for bigger trucks requiring more weight).

Long story short, the recommended PSI for the tire should be somewhere BELOW 35. My past searches has found that most forum members run them around 25-35 with the majority at 30 PSI. With this info, if so willing, someone could test out their own experiences with ride quality, tire wear, MPG, and chalk tests. Starting point would be around 30 PSI.

Other 35 inch Tire sizing data (This one has data for 25 PSI) :
--------PSI----------25----30----35-------------40---45-----50--------------55---60---65
35X12.50R17LT 1875 2155 2405 (C) 111 2625 2840 3000 (D) 119 3065 3130 3195 (E) 121

For those of you that own this one data shows that recommended PSI would be 31 PSI.

Manufacturer recommendations for 37's :

37x12.50R17LT D JLU PSI : 26
37x13.50R17LT E JLU PSI : <25

Chalk test.
Yeh, as indicated - this would provide a good starting point and save a bunch of time for those who want to do a chalk test. It would also help those people that don't feel like doing one.

Do you still have the old tire you could take a pic compared to the new tire? Love those tires!

Working list... Feel free to add.

Rating (C,D,E) Ply - Thickness of sidewall. Additional protection + load = stiffer ride.
Actual diameters are listed - Width should also be taken into consideration dependent on wheel/rim of choice.

A three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol branded on a tire's sidewall indicates the tire meets required performance criteria in snow testing to be considered severe snow service-rated. 3PMSF-branded all-season and all-terrain tires cannot match the traction of dedicated winter / snow tires in all winter weather conditions and should not be considered a replacement for where and when a dedicated winter tire is needed.

Listed Tire pressures are manufacturer recommendations (See post #25 for explanation).

I sure wish I had read this before purchasing tires. I have 35 x 12.5 x 18 Ridge Grapplers that come in at 115 pounds each on Black Rhino Razorbacks. I hope the Jeep can handle it.
