Watching the reveal live now, they really released it with the pillar-less soft top floating like a cloud over the rear and the holy half doors. ugh...

Aftermarket it is, then...

The small window in the door just looks odd. Was it open or was there a window?

It had locks too. So have to think some kind of upper would be able to attach.

Maybe the window opens and closes. Like a pop out panel. That would be rad.

My first mod will be a 1/4" aluminum armor panel to cover that stupid hole.

I think they were going for the classic CJ door look and based off the concept above.

But the JL peep hole ain't the same as the CJ door.

I traded my 2013 JK for a 2018 JKU with halves because there was never any confirmation that they'd be available. Haven't even made my first payment and I'm already thinking about trading up if there are full, functional, weather-tight halves on the JLUs. :crying: But - when they panned over the door, it didn't look like they'd take any kind of upper. So... no clue.

As of this morning 11/29/17, the sales manager at my local Jeep dealership said FCA has scrapped the half doors for JL's for the US market for 2018, and possibly indefinitely.

He said they will be manufactured for other countries (and thus could potentially be purchased separately as parts) but won't be an option that dealers can select when doing a build in the US due to crash requirements. He also noted that the i4 and diesel won't be available until 2019 model year.

Can any other dealers or insiders confirm?
It seems like dealers are the last to figure out anything, They just know the gossip in their circles, which is typically wrong. They honestly do not put much effort into figuring things out until vehicles are on the lot.

Rubicons will have available half doors for 2019MY first, then it will be offered on the other trims.

Last I saw Job 1 for the half doors was scheduled for 11/28/18. It's likely to change one way or the other but I'd expect it around then.
Hi Jay,
But is it true they are not going to make the soft uppers for the doors????? That can't be can it? If so how stupid..... So no 1/2 doors until 2019 models....
