Ok guys And gals. I’m in the market here to lease a new wrangler. I’ve been back and forth with a couple dealers so far only one will actually give me numbers. The others are just giving me payments which I don’t play that game. Anyway I’ll post what the one dealer gave me. It seems high but maybe it’s right on the money I don’t know.

2018 Rubi unlimited

Sticker 45550
Discount 3293
Adjusted price (cap cost) 42257

Processing fee 299
Tax 1804
Non tax fee 289
Total 44649

MF .00193 residual 64% for 39/months. They keep telling me 48/m will be higher payment.

Lease 39/15k $550 with 600 down.

Thanks for any input/thoughts/advice.
If you can wait a few months, I recommend waiting and getting a 2019 instead.

Residuals have dropped on the 2018s - because they’re getting “older” every day, and every day that we get closer to a 2019, the 2018s are less valuable.

This is coming from someone with both a Sahara and Rubicon order placed for 2018 that I simply can’t get because Jeep can’t get the turbos right.

The Sahara just got built this week, and I told my dealer that I’m waiting for a 2019. I’ll pull the trigger on a 2019 right when they’re available and get the best residuals they offer on them, hopefully.

To put concrete numbers to this - I ordered in March. I originally calculated my payment based on April lease figures.

Since then, the leasing deals have gotten so much worse that my cost of ownership has gone up almost $3k over a 36 month lease term.

My hope is that the RV jumps back up for 2019s whereas 2018s just keep falling as they become closer and closer to being “old news.”

When are the 2019s coming out?
Ordering starts mid-September. Builds start end of October. Realistically, probably December before you'd get an order.

1. MF looks right
2. I think RV looks right ... I’d confirm over at Edmunds by asking there
3. You should be able to get lower off MSRP ... koons in VA is offer 5% below invoice. That’ll save you another ~$30 /mo (that’s a guess)
4. Is the Acq cost waived in July?

As long as dealer isn’t marking things up (MF, Acq cost) or silly with doc fees, the only real knob to get a better deal is negotiate a better cap cost.

Thank you!

Any reason why the dealer is refusing to give me numbers on a 48 lease? They keep saying the payment will be higher. Doesn’t make sense unless I’m missing something. Thanks

From Edmunds:
Can I get the residuals for a 2018 2-door JL Rubicon for 36 and 48 months with 10k or 12k miles per year? Thanks.
...
63%/59% residual for 36/48 months, 12K/yr

Example for above 2 door:
Msrp $42.3k
Cap $37.6
.00191 MF
No TTL or Acq fee

36/12 at 63% = $426//mo
48/12 at 59% = $382/mo

No idea why they aren’t quoting a 48mo lease. Although, you are looking at non-FCA finance, right? That could be it?

I haven’t asked the bank they are using yet.
I was mistaken on thinking you weren’t FCA ... rereading and using your #s from initial ask, I think you are.

Agree! I don’t see why they wouldn’t provide?? They should want to move a car regArdless of lease term.

JLU Sport S (Freedom hard top, Automatic transmission):

12k miles/year for 36 months
MSRP = $39,330
Selling price = $38,055
RV = 72%

$356/month plus tax.

What do you think? can i still negotiate the Selling price?

Aug #s aren’t out yet, so who knows what the #s will be.

But, for the July #s, that’s a horrible, horrible deal and the #s don’t make sense. I’d love to see the paperwork to understand how they are gouging you. I’d run from that dealership.

Also, I suggest the $2 app Leasematic and run the #s and learn the formulas before you pay $4k too much for that lease.

1. U don’t list your location, but you should likely be able to better than 4% off invoice. Each $1k off is 30/mo less payment.

2. Above MSRP and cap(sell) price should be $290/mo with $4k down (no TTL, Acq fee, or deal doc). And you should do better on cap.

MF and RV is right for July, but may have changed for Aug ... I haven’t seen aug #s yet.

... if you can get cap cost down to $36.3k, you’d be at $357/mo with $0 down ( no taxes included) using July #s.

Here are #s I’d shoot for (using July #s) and potentially a little less on sell price? I’m hoping for 11-12% of Msrp. Not sure i’ll get it?
Note that taxes aren’t in monthly payment for this example.

The location is Miami, FL.

Apparently only in fees i pay a total of $2,160 so with 4k$ down total would be a remaining of about $1.8k down.

Here we also pay sales tax on down payment so my Adj. Cap cost would be $38,055 - $1,840 + $120 (Tax) = $36,336

with these numbers i get a monthly depreciation of $222 and an interest payment of $135 assuming July #s.

i still believe i can get that selling price to about $36k to get a residual of $34k.
