i am experiencing the same thing. i will sit at a read light with my AC blasting at 65 then all of a sudden it will blow hot air. is this a jeep thing or is there a fix to this?
if you turn off or disable the auto stop/start it should correct this issue. The blower fans still work on auxiliary power but if the engine isn't actively running it will not use the engine fan to suck in cold air.

This does not correct the issue for me as I never use ESS and randomly going down the road warm air will blow on the passenger side and itā€™s most noticeable from behind the glove box, from my understanding it was stated by someone here that while on recirc the system automatically brings in outside air to refresh the cabin area but even off recirc it does it so hopefully FCA addresses this

I've noticed a lot of heat on the drivers side on long highway trips, I thought it was heat coming through the floorboards. I'm going to have to pay closer attention to see if it's air vs. conductive.
Hi Chubrocker,

If you believe that you may have a concern with the A/C in your Jeep Wrangler, please send us a PM so that we can document it on your behalf.

My mission now is to find where it is bringing this air in from. It isn't bringing it in by opening the recirc, IMO. Recirc being open can handle the warm humid air from outside and condition it before it hits the cabin PLUS if it were doing recirc it should come out the vents where the rest of the air is. My suspicion is there is a damper somewhere on the firewall. When I find it and seal it I will post pics.

I took my JLU in today for the cruise recall and to have the dealership look at the ac. I was told by my service tech ā€œthat the warm air is a feature by jeep. Itā€™s the ac system keeping the temperature at the desired settingā€. @JeepCares has made a ticket # and I was told someone would contact me to make sure I was taken care of. No one called and Iā€™m waiting to see what the dealership says about the ac.

That is BS to the Nth degree. You don't flood a cabin with hot unconditioned air to regulate temperature. You adjust the temperature settings behind the scene, meaning if the user has it set to 70 and all of the sudden the computer reads it is 68 in the cabin it will dial the temp up a few degrees to adjust the cabin. Not blast hot air from outside in.

FCA rep told the dealer it was a feature too but the reason was to allow fresh air so that there was not oxygen depletion from it being on recirc. The service manager and I actually laughed at that one. Yeah... I see people passing out all the time from their cars being on recirc, it's become a real hazard... SMH.

That answer is also BS because people are experiencing this without the recirc on.

@JeepCares we all really hope that FCA comes up with a software update to stop this from happening. At this point I am actually going to look for the damper and seal it off myself.

Sounds like a textbook blend door issue to me. But, this was more common back when these were vacuum controlled. Today I'm pretty sure they use electric motors so when a blend door fails you usually end up having to remove the entire dash to diagnose and repair it.

I assume a blend door is what the recirc on/off controls. I can tell you it isn't that. I have turned my recirc on/off, had it on max a/c, etc... tried EVERYTHING and can't get it to reproduce the burst of hot humid air. When the recirc is off, and fresh air is coming in, the A/C can handle it and condition it enough so its not hot and humid.
There has got to be some other door that is directly opening to the outside and dumping the air into the floor ducts. It only comes out the floor ducts.

Also, there is nothing to repair. Read the rest of the posts, FCA is saying this is designed this way. We are all experiencing the same thing and FCA is telling all of us it is by design.

So, after some longer drives, I've noticed that I only occasionally get heat if the cabin temperature is set to exactly what I want it to be. That is, if I tell the climate control that I want it 20ĀŗC (68ĀŗF) with the A/C on, it will be cool and then hot for a while. I dialed it down to LO and never got hot air from the vents. Seems like it's done to regulate the overall temperature, but I've only had my JLU for 2 weeks. We'll see how it behaves after 4 full seasons of climate control...

I totally agree that this is bs from FCA. Iā€™ve had several vehicles from different manufacturers and have never experienced this!

Just seems like if it was by design, everybody's JLs would be doing it. There's something odd going on. I've owned my JL since it was still cold and snowy, and now it's heat index 107 and I've never experienced this.

@JeepCares I just had a call from a FCA Rep they you had contact me and it was a pleasant conversation but what I described to him with the hot air blowing he said is not normal and has a case started for me I also said I have several other issues like the battery voltage running really high, dash display lights staying on, leaking rear washer nozzle, cruise control recall any other Uconnect updates and he advised they may put an event logger in my Jeep to record things while I drive so we will see how that goes, Iā€™m hoping that they can get all the issues addressed as I really like my JLU Sahara and hope it serves me many, many years but again we will see, thank you again for having a Rep call me to log my issues and concerns and I will report back on what the Dealer here in Katy Tx tells me.
