Purchased a JLU wrangler Sport S for my wife earlier this year. Quickly replaced the stock wheels and tires with Black Rhino wheels and Nitto Ridge Grapplers, 285-70R 17s. Love the look and ride of the tires but they are absolutely useless on the wer asphalt. I have read so many different reviews, comments and threads regarding tires. Currently looking at the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs. Looking for honest feedback to make a good decision. Dont want to continue to waste money on tires that aren't reliable. Any input would be appreciated
Goodyear Duratrac, best overall tire I have ever run that works on everything from asphalt to mud to rock and more. That said its NOT a BFG KM as I use on the 7++ trails, its just great All Terrain tire...they are also SNOW rated...

I know opinions very, and everybody drives differently. I've got 37" Ridge Grapplers on my Jeep. I run them around 28 PSI cold, and they do excellent in wet and snow. I watch people have to take off in 4wd in the snow, and I don't spin a tire. Wet roads are good as well. Traction is good, no hydroplaning or even close to feeling like it will. I've had 3 sets in various sizes and have always been happy. They are great off road.

I work at a 4x4 shop in Vancouver BC and have access to all the tires. The best tire we have experience with in all conditions and on wet roads, did I mention I'm in Vancouver BC, is the Falken Wildpeak AT3. If your conditions are different from ours then there may be something better suited to you.

I just replaced my 12 year old BFG MK2's same size as you are looking for, same horrible wet and snow tire. Replaced with same size KO2, and I am amazed at what a comfortable ride I now have, and been solid in rain and on the few days I have had snow, they have a great grip. Could not give a higher recommendation for an A/T.

I feel like anything with a 3 peak mountain rating is going to get you quality performance in all conditions.

THAT SAID, my only reason for saying that is that I've had 35" falken wildpeak A/T3s on my f150 for years and that they just seem to handle everything I throw at them well.

Same could be said about the stock 33" KO2s on the Rubicon. They just work. Though they pick up and throw a lot more stones than the wildpeaks. I've never had KO2s before this jeep, so my experience is limited to just over a year and two winters.

We got a bunch of fresh snow on the roads and they do barely any plowing here, and both the jeep and f150 did great this morning trekking through it all.

Based on Tirerack reviews, the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Treks are the best on wet pavement (in the Rugged All-Terrain category)....

...but your Ridge Grapplers aren't that far behind. So if you're not happy with those, then you might need to go to a more pavement friendly category.

Won't look as cool, but should have better wet pavement performance and will be quieter/more comfortable to boot.

How's the noise on pavement with the MT Baja Boss AT's?

I have a 2020 Sahara JLU. I know I'm an oddity here, but I have the stock Bridgestone Dueler A/T 255/70R18 all terrain tires on it. Honestly they have been great for what I do with the Jeep, which is mostly pavement with some occasional beach driving. And the nice thing about them is they are available at Costco when they need to be replaced.

Being an engineer and OCD, I researched many tires. I settled on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss. I had them for two years now. I live in Wyoming and they are fantastic in both snow and rain. On the highway they make very little noise. They have a good warranty and life span.

Toyo AT3 has been wonderful both on and off the road for us. They take a beating and are fairly light in weight.

Falken wildpeaks hands down. They are releasing the at4s this month which have even longer tread wear warranty.

I love these so much i bought a set for my tj and ram. I've had ko2s, they were done at 25k miles. My falkens have 28k and at least half tread left.

Great wet traction, snow rated. Best tires I've owned in 20 years of 4x4 vehicles.
I completely agree with this. I put the WildPeaks on my TRX last summer and they have been the best performing AT tire I’ve ever used. I live in the CO Rockies so snow traction is very important to me. The WildPeaks are amazing in the snow. I have the KO2 on my JL 392, and had them on my old Raptor, and while they are great tires in general they suck in the snow (which is disappointing considering they’re 3peak rated). I have 1800 miles on my 392 and I’m about to sell off the KO2 and replace with WildPeaks.

I live in Seattle so rain performance is pretty important to me as well. I thought the BFG KO2's that came on my Ruibcon worked quite well. I swapped them out for the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs and I absolutely love them. They definitely do excellent in the rain.

I am wondering though, is the pressure too high on the Nitto's? I would think they could handle the rain as well.
