No delay from November '17 production start, as far as I can tell. They have to move the tooling out for the Cherokee, then build a line from scratch for the JL. Production of the '18 JK will be really slow with just 1200 people still working... The current JK line will then transition to JT assembly a year later, probably offset from retooling for the '19 JK.

I'm sure some of the 3200 laid off will get work on assembly line facilities demo and construction, but most will enjoy a nice 6 month sabbatical with unemployment and union benefits.

Sucks about the layoffs but sounds like everyone will be hired back after the retooling. With the massive volume of JL/JLU they're anticipating on cranking out I wouldn't be surprised if there's even more people hired after all 3200 are re-hired.

Best of all its excited to hear something happening at the plant which brings us closer to the JL.

I would be happy to take a 95% paid sabbatical!
"Laid off" employees means no benefits though. But I'm sure they'd rather get a paid 'sabbatical' with expectation of being hired again than permanently laid off.

I work for a small business (under 20 employees) only thing I get is $100 a month towards healthcare (no 401K, etc) so I personally would have no issue taking 95% of my salary with no benefits. Hell you can still go do side work part time and make more money.

Nice to see that after retooling even more jobs will created by the new Wrangler, to cover the increased production capacity of the plant from 240k to 350k. There really should be no Wrangler supply problems after this. And if there is, they did something really right with the JL/JT!
