We started off with a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon in factory form.

Stage 1:
We installed a set of 37″ Maxxis Trepador’s on the JL without any lift and they fit! The Rubicon model’s front fenders are approximately 1″ higher then the standard JL. While the tires did fit and drove down some moderate trails I would definitely suggest some bump stops before you hit any real trails. Also we removed the factory front bumper as the tires would hit the valence when turning. You could cut this but we are designing new Motobilt bumpers so this problem will be solved. We used a set of 17″ steel wheels that had been converted to beadlocks using our DIY beadlock kit.

The 37″s Trepadors are awesome but we new from the beginning this Jeep JL had to have some 40″ Trepadors. We wanted to install a set of Raceline aluminum beadlock wheels, so we rounded up a set of 17×9.5’s and had them custom powder coated.

Stage 2:
Next up was how to fit these massive meats. We installed a basic 2.5″ spacer lift kit to get by until some of our friends in the industry finish their more complete lift kits.

As you can tell the Motobilt Jeep JL grew up quite a bit but even with the 2.5″ lift and Rubicon flares it still needed some more room. We removed the inner liners on the front and rear fenders which includes the turn signal on the front fenders. This provided a lot more room and we plan on building parts to clean up all of this and re incorporate a set of turn signals.
The huge tires would not clear the factory bumper so it had to go

So we built a new front bumper for it called the Crusher

Now there is plenty of room for the 40's to clear up front.

The 2.5" spacer kit was the only available kit at the time so we are currently looking to install a full blown lift kit with control arms, springs, shocks and more very soon.

I love that front bumper, any chance of one in the future with a smaller pre-runner type hoop /stinger and factory LED fog light holes? If so, sold! I am looking at some of your JK products now, and excited to see what all you do with the JL.

Your build looks great, gives me a lot of ideas for my build. How do you like the race line beadlocks? Did they balance well with the tires?

that is nice - is there a version that takes the non-led fog lights? and are there different hoops, like a more vertical one without flares?

If we add fog light holes the bumper will have to move further out in order for their to be room. This setup is really tight and close to the winch for the optimal in approach angle.

thanks - my dilemma is that MA requires the front plate, so i won’t have a winch there

I was looking at a few of the JK front bumpers, that we're exactly what I am looking for, I also like that one above. When will it be available?

Will there be a matching rear bumper?

Awesome build. Curious how much travel the Jeep has with the stage 1 37s if the inner fender liner were removed as with 40s leaving suspension stock. I know many love putting 40s but this will also be my DD and 37s much more practical although still not really practical.

Loving the minimalist front bumper but also interested with getting a rear along the same design.

We trimmed the inner metal portions of the fender when we went to 40's but with the 37's it cleared by removing the inner fender only. We drove the jeep with the 37's on the road no problem. Granted they were trepador bias on steel diy beadlocks.
