Is hood flutter a thing?

I just happened upon someone commenting about hood flutter after altering the side vents. I was going to install the new Morimoto side lights where the vent are, but now I'm not so sure I should. No sense in creating a problem.

The vents and redesigned hood latches were added on the JL to eliminate it and it works well. I've never had flutter even passing at 90 mph or passing a semi truck going the other direction in 40 mph winds. (the two times I always get flutter when driving my Mom's JK.) Stands to reason blocking the vents with the side marker lights would introduce the potential for flutter.

No issues with hood fluttering on our JL. As far as I know that was corrected for the JL model right from the get go

My Jeep (JLURXR)is a month old and I’m upgrading the hood latches in a few weeks as it already has the hood flutter above 70mph.

That’s crazy, owned mine for a while now and I’ve never seen the hood flutter on the highway. Weird how inconsistent some of the issues are with Jeep.

Never seen flutter the vents fixed it in on the JL as far as I have heard.

Never heard of them do they still vent?

I will have to look them up, have not see any light behind the fender.

Hood flutter died with the JK model years. Zero chance on a JL as long as they are latched properly. Anything talked about on a JL/JLU is bs rumor.

Yes it is. I’d take it to the dealer and have them do something with it given it’s obviously under warrenty but the dealer near me can’t be trusted. The one I bought it from is an hours drive. Pretty sure it would just reoccur so I’m thinking I’ll just upgrade the latches…

Your latches are not adjusted properly. No hood flutter in my 2020 Rubicon at 80mph…in wind. My 2015 JK was terrible…though daystar latches helped some.
