I did the same thing lol! Drove a 392 and was blown away, it was awesome.

Luckily I prefer a MT and would rather put the difference into some Tons and mods.
luckily for me, I prefer not to have a MT, so I get to have a 392!!!!!!šŸ˜œ

Now a MT 392 would be a crap-load of fun though!!!!!!!!!! Can you imaginešŸ˜

I had a chance to drive my buddy's 392 this week. I knew it was going to sound badass and pull like a beast, but I'm screwed now. I need one. The combination of the V8 rumble with the look and capability we already love is automotive perfection. Damn it.

If anyone has a dealer rec in the southwest or west, preferably Phoenix, I may have to order one. I hear others are ordering well under MSRP now, which is great, but it makes it even more compelling.

If you're given the chance to drive one, don't do it unless you are ready for a very expensive test drive.
At Chapman in Scottsdale, there is a fully loaded 392 sitting in the showroom below MSRP. Itā€™s been there the last two times I was there so maybe check it out. The housing market is softening here. Maybe the craziness with overpriced cars is too.

Yes. I owned two Dodge Challenger SRT 392s with a notchy Tremec 6-speed manual - they were simply awesome! I miss those cars.

If you think $80k is crack-level, then I dunno how to explain my $113k purchase price! Itā€™s all relative, man!

The only reason I came back to Wranglers was cause they put a proper engine in one.
Dittoā€” after driving a 375 Hp CJ5 for ~10yrs a Wrangler with almost a third less power and half again more weight was unacceptable! I even bought a 4R and drove it 16 years because I could get a V8. Ordered a Wrangler when V8 was offered. ( albeit too early for XR, unfortunately)

I learned the hard way repeatedly, never had an automatic off road vehicle till now, off roading in a stick is more difficult and takes a more skilled driver to do it well. I did it for 30 years. Sometimes it is dangerous to have a MT in rocks. The auto almost feels like cheating now. 4L in a stick, shifting 10000 times trying to keep up with an auto just pressing the skinny pedal, it is Different experience now.

No doubt an auto is better offroad (and on) but that isn't the point.

Can a MT handle a 392 in a Jeep???

Yepā€” I got very good at 3 pedals with 2 feet after replacing Go Devil with a Hurricane in the 3A because the short Holley required to fit under the hood would load up on long steep hills. Not Fun!

Paddles off road is totally cool. Should be an option for all wranglers. Fills my shifting fix without the 3rd pedal!

Exact same thing happened to us! Took one for a test drive and now his Gladiator is gone. Can't lie, she's a BEAST!

For sale, getting test drivesā€” yet showing 8.5 MPG , some people clearly donā€™t know how to take a proper test drive!! šŸ˜‰ Thatā€™s at least 2 MPG too high! šŸ˜Š
haha agreed

I definitely didnā€™t say there was ā€No dealsā€. I said additional 6k off the deals most dealers offer. It seems what people pay is some badge of honor on here. I donā€™t care what anyone paid. I hope everyone that wants a 392 paid $1 and I donā€™t care that I paid $43 million for mine. If there was a place where I could vote to have all 392 owners get $10k of payment forgiveness I would but they will have to settle for college tuition instead.

My only point originally was there wasnā€™t any dealers doing orders ā€œwell underā€ msrp. Most dealers are doing 5-8% under msrp. If that is well under because that is 6-8k off a 90k vehicle than fantastic. To me that is not ā€œwell underā€. I have paid ā€œwell underā€ MSRP for some vehicles and it was like 15-20% under.

edit: sorry I got carried away again! I didnā€™t pay $43 million for mine, there was delivery in there too, so that doesnā€™t count!
I was almost 17% (76/91) under MSRP according to the final window sticker. Got really really lucky.

Canā€™t build the 392 for what they charge; so thereā€™s that.

I'm yeah if you got it like that go for it. I love the 392 as well. Just in my world it's crazy as far as smart with affordability especially with gas prices the way they are.

I want something that's better on gas and still has plenty of power. The 2.0T fits that bill for me. Plus I wanted my Ford Bronco when it came in and this way I can afford both.
I do understand the comments and concerns about gas prices but in relative context, they are somewhat inconsequential for an argument against the 392 for me compared to the 2.0T.

Scenario:
drive 12,000 miles annually
premium 3.75/gal
21 mpg costs $2,143 a year for fuel
14 mpg costs 3,214 a year for fuel
Difference of $1,071 a year or $89 a month.

I will be lucky if I put 6,000 miles on my 392 in a year so thatā€™s a difference of about $500 or $45 a month. For me, itā€™s well worth the ā€œgasā€ premium. Thatā€™s one less bottle of wine a month at a restaurant and I could sure use to drink less wine once in a while. šŸ˜‚ I would say go with whatever makes ya happy and enjoy the JEEP!

I just checked HBā€™s site and they actually have 12 392s in inventory, all with a $25k markup! The cheapest one is listed at $107k. Theyā€™re smoking crack.
There are used ones in PA asking about $79K.
