Thanks for posting. I am very glad the IIHS motivates manufacturers to improve on safety. Obviously Jeep could do far better. The poor rating appears to relate solely to lack of second row airbags. I have the luxury of not having rear passengers so I don't have to make tough decisions. We all have our own risk tolerances.

I've never bought vehicles based on safety ratings, but my boss got rear ended on her way into work this morning. 17 year old kid on his way to school doing 55-60, didnt even touch the brakes (probably texting).

It made me watch my mirrors a bit closer at the red lights today having nothing but a rag behind me, thats for sure.

Amazingly, kid walked off with nothing but a broken nose, and the body shop said that somehow, he has no idea how, but somehow she has no structural or mechanical damage and just needs a new bed/bumper.

GMC has me sold on the safety aspect if i ever need a truck lol.

I would like to see that test done without doors.

We only have our dog back there and I doubt I want airbags hittin' him.

I'm OK with "poor" "rear passenger head protection" (the only non-"good" rating). I'm guessing the roll-cage isn't a good cushion...?

Looks like their head hits the door. Maybe half doors in the back would be a bit safer. I removed the rear seats out of my Jeep, so it’s none issue for me.

Kinda wondering if frame-mounted rails would make a difference in a side impact like that.

Probably not much, if any, but it's hard to say considering where the initial impact to the doors is. An extra inch or two of added buffer certainly couldn't hurt, I guess.

I am wondering the same for the ARB. While not frame mounted, it uses the body mount bolts and attaches to the tub.

I posted this on here when I got rear ended. This is my first jeep and when I got out after getting hit I was expecting major damage and too my surprise there was very little. Other driver got taken away in an ambulance. The tow truck driver that took the other car says " that's a stout jeep" 😂. And I drove myself home
