That was it! Thanks. I knew I had seen him working for a different vendor.

I wish I could have afforded the XR package when I ordered my Jeep. Anyone want to buy my Jeep for $10k over MSRP so I can order a new one? You can get it TODAY and not have to wait!

I got lucky in a way, my JK was totaled due to someone making a. Improper uturn across my turning lane.

So JK got totaled, and allowed me a hefty down payment. And it just so happen to be when the XRs were rolling in. I got ahold of the dealer the second the truck got there on a Saturday over new years weekend, they were closed Sunday, so it was safe from a sale. I came in Monday morning, started signing paper work. Now you can't find an XR for under 60k.

Mine was listed at 58k. Everything but cold weather/hard top.

It's already lifted with a 3.5" metalcloak.

Should have been call Stealth Recon:

No visible branding or badging
No red safety belts
No hood decals
Not a bundle of features already available
Few people, even jeep owners, know the extent of the package

You can double down and get 2X FTW street cred for removing the Rubicon sticker...

That's walking away from a firey explosion with no looking back level of chill.

Speaking only for me, if only looking to stay with 35's it may be ok, otherwise...

Meh...

-- Mopar beadlocks are ok, but sure if I like them (yet).

-- Mopar lift kit is limited in that nothing is adjustable and it's still the same cheap stamped steel as the OEM non lifted hardware

-- 4.56 would not have been enough gear

-- I had the Mopar tailgate reinforcement and relocation kit and the studs started pulling out and the tailgate still rattled (with 35's). I upgraded to a CavFab and LOD camera relocation kit and am very happy with that choice.

-- The XR fender extensions were $70

-- I already upgraded my knuckles when I installed Dynatrac ball joints, RCV's, and trusses.

With that said, I need to look into the XR brakes because it would be nice to have factory big brakes so that is the one thing the XR kit has that would be something I want (other than the fender extensions I already installed).

So as someone who's worked on and driven a couple XR's:

Pros:
  • Gears if 4.56 is what you are after
  • Axle (if you get the iron knuckles - not everyone does)
Cons:
  • Suspension is crap and you will need to replace/supplement it heavily
  • Tire carrier is marginal for anything bigger than 35's
So yeah it's worth the $4k but just; it is not a super value in any sense.

Would have loved this package with my diesel and some 4.10's from the factory.

Agreed. I would have loved to do this if it was available on the diesel. I ended up spending a crapload more on an AEV build instead.

AEV is light years ahead of the Mopar lift and was money well spent -- buy once and cry once...

I looked at it a little different. When ordering it cost about $3600, then sell the wheels and tires for let’s say $1k more than selling new Rubi takeoffs, and dump the spare carrier for $200 so you are basically getting HD front axle, iron knuckles, 4:56s, and a little better brakes for $2400 🤷‍♂️
