i can’t personally speak to the Mopar lift, but I know a lot of people run it. It’ll get you clearance and fox shocks, seems like a good deal for the priceI am leaning towards the mopar. I had AEV 3.5 on my JKU. Loved it but momma doesn’t want me to lose control lol
I finally received my JL!! and it is time for me to build. I have the Metal Cloak 3.5" lift and I'm curious, did you order Metal Cloak's drive front drive shaft?(Edit: Took delivery 9/15/21 this thread will remain and become the build thread.)
How it started
How is going
Waiting to take delivery on a 2021 JLUR Xtreme Recon and the long wait has given me time to start building out the Jeep on paper. I can't help myself and have been buying up parts that I can find in stock as I impatiently wait to take delivery.
We just sold our 2019 2 door JL Sport in preparation to take delivery on the new rig. The new Jeep will be built for my wife's daily driver (local small town driving ~1 mile per day), weekend runs to town, weekend trips, and a few trips out to Moab Utah from North Texas each year to go wheeling. We have two medium (35-50lb) dogs that will spend a lot of time in the back, and will make the pilgrimage out to Utah with us each year.
I'd like to hear from those of you that have used any of the modifications that I plan to incorporate into the build. How do you like them, how difficult was the install, tips/tricks for smooth install, long term durability, anything I should know before continuing with my purchase? Is there another product that does the same job better?

- Chase lights - I had Baja Designs S2 Pro amber flush mount in the rear bumper of my last JL for chase lights. Has anyone done this with the OEM steel bumpers?
- 30% window tint on front driver/passenger windows
- Full debadge (Considering everything but the trail rated badge as it is "stamped" into the sheet metal. Has anyone done the Rubicon stickers? I'd like to see what it looks like without them)
- I saw someone who posted a wireless CarPlay adaptor for the Uconnect system that plugs in in the center console. Does this work well? And does someone happen to have a link to the "dongle"? I didn't think to save it.
- Alternately, is there a way to tap into the Uconnect system from the back side of the radio or media connections? I plan on running cables behind the dash up to the cell phone mount anyway. If I could have a clean way to connect the cell phone with a wired connection I would prefer that to wireless dongles.
First off, congrats!!!I finally received my JL!! and it is time for me to build. I have the Metal Cloak 3.5" lift and I'm curious, did you order Metal Cloak's drive front drive shaft?
I really like the AAL stuff, I have the fender chop kit on order but it is backordered. I am wanting that same shelf, did you order when it was on backorder or was it in stock? I'm wondering what their actual wait times are vs what is posted on the site. Solid looking rig.

I am leaning towards the 3.5” lift as well but I’m worried about fitting in my garage, I currently have no issues with my Sport with 2” Mopar lift and 35’s. I run a soft top in the warm weather and my hard top in winter. I currently measure right about 74.5“ or so from the floor to the hard top (roof) of my Jeep. Can you measure yours for comparison? I would like to still fit in my garage to swap tops at least. I know the soft top has like a 2” hump when it’s on So that might be an issue. Your build is awesome by the way, I have another month before mine gets to the dealer.Depends what your starting height was.
With my XR it came with a 1.5” factory lift. After you take off the 1.5 OE lift and install the MC 3.5” I gained a measured 2” over factory. This should equate to a true 3.5” on a rubicon, and somewhere around 5-5.5” I believe on the sport/Sahara
it’s just under 76” front and 76-1/4” rear. The rear is probably taller without my AAL load out and fridge. I think that 77” would be close.I am leaning towards the 3.5” lift as well but I’m worried about fitting in my garage, I currently have no issues with my Sport with 2” Mopar lift and 35’s. Awesome! Thank you.it’s just under 76” front and 76-1/4” rear. The rear is probably taller without my AAL load out and fridge. I think that 77” would be close.
I just got my XR back from the install and am measuring closer to 78" with a MC 2.5". I will post pics in my Build Thread after I take it out this weekend.it’s just under 76” front and 76-1/4” rear. The rear is probably taller without my AAL load out and fridge. I think that 77” would be close.
holy smokes!I just got my XR back from the install and am measuring closer to 78" with a MC 2.5". I will post pics in my Build Thread after I take it out this weekend.
That was my thinking as well and why I went with the KM3's. They sit a tad under 36" @37PSI (I haven't lowered the PSI yet, usually I run at 28-30).holy smokes!
I didn’t think my load out was squatting Jeepeto that much!?
Also, it might settle in a bit, as you drive it too, I wonder if it’s a little lower after a week?
EDIT: according to your build thread you’re on KM3s as well? They’re usually a bit small by comparison. I’m curious as to what’s going on here…
Your tire pressure might play a part, I’m rolling at 25psi on the streetsThat was my thinking as well and why I went with the KM3's. They sit a tad under 36" @37PSI (I haven't lowered the PSI yet, usually I run at 28-30).
I just posted pics from the shop, will put some up later with a tape measure against it.
