They didn’t exactly give away my GC SRT either, but they did deal, from about $73K MSRP to $400 under invoice $64,275

Any indications that they intend to put the HO version in a Wrangler at some point, to replace the 392 option when it's run ends?

Just one, the same reason we got the 392– a Bronco Beater! But as stated, another flagship priced accordingly. Just my guess.🤔

Something new, something they can charge more for.

This engine wouldn’t make its way to Wrangler until the life cycle improvement/refresh which could be next year or pushed back another model year. I think it’ll be a bit before we see it available for Wrangler. Get the engine in the Wagoneer, let it shake down, then start putting it in wider release.

I was going to order a 2022 JLUR with 2.0 Turbo next week, but I'd wait a couple months to order this. I'll be putting 42's on it, probably with DSTRAC 70's. I know the Dynatrac 60/80 doesn't fit the 392.

I've got my stock 21 JLR to wheel with until the new JLUR arrives.

I'd wait 3 months if I was sure I'd be able to order then.

I wouldn't touch any new engine for at least a couple years. Good news is we have the 2.0T variant of this now which is plenty for off roading especially with a tune. Hopefully this turns out to be a good engine and hopefully they don't charge an arm and leg for it. I'm thinking they will though being that this is most likely the 392s replacement.

I tried to tell people Turbo engines are the Future. V8s are dead!!

Hope that plasma spray bore lining stuff works better than the Voodoo. Many Voodoos became oil pumpers.

At $2K more than the 392, I guess I'll stick with the 2.0. The 392 is like $10K over the 2.0. The only time I need HP is in the sand, which is 1% of my wheelin. My 72 big block vet will toast any jeep on the street and in the corners.
A. Shouldn't a sports car beat an off road vehicle on the street?
B. If you're talking stock, a 72 corvette was 8.5s 0-60, it literally wouldn't beat any modern wrangler on the street
C. If you're talking modified, I've seen a ton of built track hawks running 9's in the 1/4, the world record being 9.66@145 so I'm guessing your vette is very, very built or maybe it won't beat ANY jeep on the street?
Do we need 500hp in a wrangler? No. Would it be a blast to drive on and off road? Absolutely.

Wow! That’s got to be FCA’s best kept secret! I honestly thought by now FCA had given up on it.

With the output and efficiency of the 2.0T and the 3.6 V6 being so close together, Wrangler had a big hole between those and 392. This inline six fills that void perfectly...and then some...

Buh-bye Bronco...

PS - I doubt it will fit 2023+ JL2. FCA had to stretch JL by 1.5 inches just to be able to fit the then-new 8-speed automatic. An inline six is going to be physically longer than a V6 or a V8.

"The standard output Hurricane, Stellantis promises, will offer "more than 400 horsepower and more than 450 lb-ft of torque," at a max of 5,800 rpm. The high output variant will offer "more than 500 HP and more than 475 lb-ft of torque" at up to 6,100 rpm in their initial configurations. Those are Hemi power figures, so fans of the current V-8 may start to sweat. Especially when considering the availability to offer hybrid variants, which are planned, though the engine will not launch with a hybrid configuration. Engineers say the new engines maintain at least 90 percent of peak torque from 2,350 rpm all the way to redline."
I said this yesterday: I think we are coming to a time where a V8 will only be available on 3/4 ton trucks or larger.

This practically confirms that. One of these in a Rubicon just might make me trade in.

But.... the 6.4 SOUNDS so much better than an inline 6, V6, and definitely a 4 cyl. Maybe they can pipe in a V8 soundtrack through the speakers. :fingerscrossed:
