No one was injured. She will just need some help. Her house was our parents home that was passed to her. She never put insurance on it I built on part of the family farm and I live right next door. The house caught fire again last night and the fire department was back again. It is a total loss.

No one hurt so the rest is just problems to over come. Carla was flying home to visit her family and she found out when she landed. So much for the big surprise. She is already home , but will being flying back to Vegas on Saturday.

Bill flew home with Carla so he could surprise his girlfriend on her birthday.

We will all be back together on Sunday and makes some plans. Also this will give my sister an opportunity to know if I am even needed back home as of right now, not even sure what my help would look like.

At the end of the day nobody was home when the fire started, don’t know the cause of it yet or with her being stupid for not having the house insured what needs to be done. Time at this point is probably what is needed the most. My sister has a place to stay so we will just have to see how it plays out.

We never know what tomorrow holds and everyone has things happen to them through our life. The real secret is how we act when things do happen. This will pass and I will attempt to assist as best as I can as that is what a brother should do…

I know that the people on this forum are awesome so my post about the fire is not seeking sympathy or any help, it is just information so that if we change gears on what we as a group of travels do you will all understand as you follow along. Gary and Angie are super cool. They were like hey if we need to drive your Jeep and camper home, we got you. Angie even looked up flight info for me.

I even had a forum member reach out and offer to store my jeep and camper if needed for a couple days a couple weeks or a couple months if needed.

We will just need a few days to decide our next move when the whole crew gets back together.

Wow Ted, sure hope you and your family get this handled and most of what was lost can be replaced. I know there's so much you feel you need to do but it sounds like you're keeping a cool head throughout.

Well no reason to just sit around camp. Gary and Angie came out of their camper this morning and I asked them what they had planned? Nothing, so I emptied out the Jeep set up a chair in the back and said load up, we are headed to the Sequoia National Park. Off we went.

Gary is a legitimate lumberjack and owned a big tree company for 36+ years. He sold the business and all of his equipment and retired to go on this trip. The Sequoias is a bucket list thing for him. He got emotional when he saw the giant trees. It was special to be able to share the experience with him. Note this guy does not normally tear up. The trees and the moment was amazing.

I have been to the Sequoia National Park 4 times now. It is a special place that needs to experienced as pictures do not do it justice. It is more than the sights, it is the smell, and the feeling of being among greatness that I get when there. Some of the trees are thousands of years old.

We took off about 8 am and it was about 830 pm when we got to the hotel. Long day. We skipped breakfast and lunch and ate gas station food. Hit up a Taco food truck in a small Brewery after we exited the park. Hope to wheel Sand Hollow soon.

I'm sure it must have been taken north of Welton because any drone usage in the Goldwater is strictly forbidden because of the restricted airspace due to all the military activity. A number of individuals have been sternly counseled for drone flying. I'm glad you weren't among them.

My drone will not fly in restricted areas. If there are limits on altitude or pretty much anything, I have to check boxes that I am aware of and will be responsible for the flight. I also use an Airmap app that will show me any geo fenced areas where I plan to fly.

For instance if I am with in 5 miles of an airport, and take off, the drone will take off, and go about 3 feet high and then immediately land. Every time I start the app to fly the drone, it updates flight Geo fencing locations for places and attitude limits.
With my app, if I want to fly somewhere that is restricted, I can seek permission with the FAA and provide a flight plan, seek permission and buy a permit.

wow; sorry to hear that. would be a pity if it blew the trip for you and your companions, but good on you for being willing to be there for her if need be.

Totally jealous of your editing and tech skill on both the GoPro and drone. I've tried and it seems like I reinvent the wheel each time. Either that or my give a shit factor is too low to retain what I just learned.

Make no mistake it is difficult to make a YouTube video especially when I could give a dam about being YouTube famous. I have to be in the right mood to work on them.
The funny yet depressing thing is I can spend 10 or 15 hours or more to edit and process a YouTube video that get about two hundred likes. Or post a pic on here, Facebook or Instagram and get the same amount of likes and only have about 5 minutes wrapped up into it.

I would rather be out wheeling than be in camp on my laptop. Heck some times it is an 3 or more hours just pulling files off the GoPro, drone, dash cam and phones.
