Bright White grille turning yellow

First of all, to whomever said that all plastic parts will do this is 100% wrong. When plastic parts are painted, it's not the same paint as the metal parts. "Flex agents" are added to the paint so when the part flexes the paint will not crack, flake off, etc. So it appears as though, they had bad mix of paint for the plastic parts. This is not new, every car has painted plastic parts, skins or otherwise. My 2012 JKU Altitude had matching top and fenders and the paint looked brand new when I traded in. Maybe, the white pigments didn't get along with the added flex agents which is causing this. For the fading to occur that fast, should tell you something.....(bad mix, bad paint, bad something)

So , get rid of the plastic and get rid of the paint , and everything will be fine .

Any update from your dealer yet?

Mine just called. They got approval to order new grille and repaint. I asked them if I could just keep it matte black (I think that'd be cool looking) and he said sure but it'd be out of warranty if any issues arise again on the grille. I said at least it won't yellow if it's not painted. He said true.

Have they replaced your grill yet with a new one? If they did can you provide detail if it came already painted from the factory? thanks

No, not yet. Jeep cares got involved and FCA contacted my dealership. They want the grille and fender sent back to them and they in turn are sending out new parts to be painted and installed. FCA is aware that I'm not the only one with the problem and they are requesting the defective parts back to analyze why they are yellowing so that the problem can be corrected at the factory. As of now it's only the white ones that are doing this. Parts are being expedited and it should be done by Friday.

Just noticed this. Nothing as crazy as the others here but can still see a difference from the hood to the grill. Will keep an eye out and see if it worsens.

Same problem is happening with mine , mostly on the drivers side.

Apparently Jeep knows about it and it's only happening to the white ones. What I did was contact my dealer, they told me to bring it in. I gave my salesman pics and he gave them to the service guy. I pm'd @JeepCares and they requested some info from me and they got in contact with my service guy. Parts are on order to be repainted. They even gave me a loaner. So far, it's been a week, just waiting on parts to be shipped (fender on driver's side and grille)

I wonder if a dealer will give you crap for not buying from them.
That depends on the dealer. They have to fix things under warranty. They can give you crap but it is not in their best interest.

Dealers make more money through service vs sales. If they want to have you buy from them in the future they will want to provide you with a good experience. If they give you a hard time what would make you want to purchase from them next time.

The dealership I bought my Jeep from was not the one I purchased my last one at. I was not happy with my previous dealerships service department and it weighed heavily on my decision of where I was going to purchase. I purchased my Jeep from the dealership that provided me good service even though I did not buy from them last time.

Dealers make more money through service vs sales.
Sorry to point out that this is nonsense ; they make a lot of revenue and then profit from new car sales ; that entire "invoice" pricing b.s. is a fake marketing tool to fool the buyer into thinking he is getting a deal "below cost" . Impossible .

Service makes a lot of profit from up-selling services you don't need .
