I know it is a complete different vehicle, different from Wrangler and gladiator, but I love the idea:
cheap,
unique,
utilitarian,
toy-ish,
but still quite capable

I think that's what jeep should do.

Rather see them bring back Pontiac and bring over the Holden Ute version of the last GTO

Cheap - yes.
Unique - lol, definitely not.
Utilitarian - If your needs are simple
Toy-ish - depends on your definition of a toy
Still quite capable - of going to the mall

Yeah, no. Jeep shouldn't do that.

I don't think it would be a Jeep if it was cheap. Having said that, my son is 14 and the Maverick (used) will be in the running for his first vehicle

The Maverick fills a real need, the value is excellent. A new vehicle, at that price point, with that standard equipment will be a hot seller. Ford finally had a " Better Idea".
To all the Haters, it's not competition, it's a much needed vehicle for those who don't see the need or value in spending money better used on a first house, education, fill in the blanks.

Like the idea of the Maverick. Hybrid rated at 37mpg. Problems are availability and pricing. Hybrid production for 2021 about sold out. Some dealers Market Adjustment pricing place the Maverick close to F150 territory. The other problem is first year model problems.

The only think I'd like to see Jeep do is a 2 door Wrangler with 1/2 doors, soft top, 6 speed with no ESS, no AC, and sticker it close to $20k. It still has to be a Wrangler, and the JL is the best of them all, so I wouldn't change anything else.

But I like what Ford did with the Maverick. They'll sell the heck out of those.

"Simpler" vehicles have been mandated out of existence. The newest, but not the last, price -without- value booster is the "Drunk Driver Impairment " that requires some tech so the vehicle won't start. Mandatory on all new vehicles sold in US. 2023 ? So hang onto your " simple" pre 2023 vehicles...

Unique - being the very few unibody truck (santa cruze & ridgeline are all at $40k+ price mark)
Toy-ish - for me is RV, biking, kayaking, fishing, a few diy run to and from home depot,

I know it is not offroad ready vehicle like wrangler, but honestly I didn't buy jeep to do serious offroad, but rather like the style of convertible truck. And I do look at gladiator and found it is slow, sluggish, ugly and expensive, I would prefer it being smaller and agile.

Also the price is so good for Mav, I remember gladiator was initially offered at the expensive price, and soon big rebate given out to move inventory, that's just dishonest behavior.

Lose the 4dr cab and give it a 6ft bed.

Better yet, have Jeep put this into production:

Wife wants one since the F-150 is getting harder for her to get in and out of. Maybe in another year...

Regualr cab sales of trucks is very small. Mostly fleet sales to small contractors.

I have no expectation that Jeep or anyone else will produce a std cab pickup in any size for the US market.
