Drywall and roofing - two home building trades I know how to do but refuse to, they're a PIA. If pressed I will do a small job, like you're tackling, but I'll make sure my migraine and pain meds are close at hand.I was thinking today how far off my estimates usually are on projects like this. When it comes to drywall it's at least a factor of 10x, but I'm learning. Just like most skills/disciplines, hanging drywall is all about the prep. Nothing in that alcove was in plane, and when it came to the ceiling piece there was almost nothing to drive screws in to. I spent two days just preparing the area, shimming and adding attachment points. I'd starve if I had to do this for a living.
Friday I'll have to confront my biggest fear which is smearing compound on the joints and corners. I've never been good at at (only really tried it once.) Many YT videos are being watched.
Yeah, in the case of drywall, it looks kinda easy on the surface, yes? Just slap a board on the wall and drive in a few screws. In my experience it never quite works out that way due to the aforementioned framers not doing a great job (especially here in So. Cal.) Every time I've ever tried to hang board I've run in the dreaded "nothing is in-plane and/or this one stud is acting as a fulcrum." When I tried to hang the ceiling piece on this latest job I rushed it, and yep, a fulcrum stud in the middle and the board cracked when screwed down. Then I said "okay, take some time (2 days) and properly prepare the area." Everything went in without a hitch after that.Drywall and roofing - two home building trades I know how to do but refuse to, they're a PIA. How fun! A white Thanksgiving. We got a bit of fluffy stuff for Turkey Day.
Will be headed out to hike soon. Need to earn that beer tonight.
I didn't watch the video but some of the comments are good. That said, when I had a 6 speed Rubicon (JK) it was pretty difficult to stall it in 4 low 1st gear. I saw it was a "ponytail boy" video, so skipped it.So question for you 6spd manual drivers without the 4-to-1 transfer case:
Do you stall as much as the guy in the first post's video?

(Edit: Now I want to install the winch and try to play in the snow again.)
Is this just another Rubi owner flexing on us "lesser" Jeep owners? :PSo question for you 6spd manual drivers without the 4-to-1 transfer case:
