I just finished a 4890km (3038 mile) trip. My average speed was 95kph (60 mph). Over the trip, I averaged 13 l/100km (18 mpg). That's with the 3.6 8speed auto, regeared to 4.88 with full skids, front bumper, winch, and 38s (see below for full list).

Not bad, I'd say.

I'm finding speed is key to fuel economy. I have the 3.6L and 6MT with 4.56 gears on a 2.5" lift with 35s. If I drive normally, running 70-75 mph to keep up with traffic, then I get as low as 15 mpg, which is down from the 22 mpg I was getting stock. If I put it in 5th gear and set the cruise for 60 mph, I can get up to 18 mpg out of the thing. It just depends on whether I want to keep up with traffic or be a rolling road block to save money. Speed KILLS fuel economy on this rig, the way it's set up now.

I found stop and go or hilly roads really kill the mileage. It's usually not too far off from my subaru as long as I cruise under 75.

i have gotten 27MPG once when on highway ............. with 30-35mph tail wind. Other wise 25 is the best i will get, and that has to be on flat coastal highways.

OK, forgive me if this has been talked about many times before. I went on a four hour drive, all interstate, yesterday. I had the cruse control on probably 90% of the time. My Jeep, 2019 JLU Sport S with 2.0 turbo said 26.3 MPG. I don’t know how far off this is, but it sure looked good. Jeep is totally stock with HWY tread.
This September, after breaking my Sport S in for 5 months and 5k miles I did a 4,600 mile trip in two weeks from Colorado to Washington state, down the coast to San Francisco and home across Nevada. Stayed off interstate as much as possible preferring secondary, two-lane and dirt. I was shocked when I got home and saw my average mpg was 27.4. Stock Sport S with All-terrain tires, 3.6 and manual trans. significantly better than my previous Subaru ever got, with all the benefits of a Jeep. Happy as can be.
