I asked the dealer on Thursday for a status update on my 392XR and they said it’s in D status “parts gathering”.

What I read was that the 392 non Recon tires are the reason the speed was limited to 99 mph. And the Recon, while the tires are larger 35's (315's) the tire is a different tire with different top speed rating, therefore the higher top speed.

I don't have a source, but that is what I read.
Good point!

Car & Driver just tested the 392 with Xtreme Recon and it was 4.0s 0-60mph with 35" tires.
The gearing on this package will be interesting to drive. This is the only automatic vehicle I have been excited to purchase in 15 years, I have not driven it, but the thought of 35" tires from the factory on a V8 Rubicon is such a compelling recipe for me.

So, what is different about the suspension for the XR 392?

I have read:

- Shock is monotube Fox, as with the 392.

- it is not a taller suspension compared to standard 392, it is the same height as the 392.

- it is tuned for the heavier tire wheel package. (The spring? The shock? Both?)

Do we know if it is a different fox shock than the standard 392?

For the slightly heavier wheel package (~15 lbs max ?) how would it be sprung or shocked differently? I’m used to hearing of springs being spec’d in accordance with vehicle weight, but not wheel weight. For instance - diesel lift kits are sprung for heavier engine, and I believe some lift kits are marketed as being spec’d for “built” rigs that are several hundred pounds heavier vs OEM.

Im not familiar with suspension systems being specd / defined according to weight ranges of tire - wheel combos.

Im putting 35s on my 392, and am using a fairly lightweight combo. I think I’m gaining 10 or 12 lbs tire weight, but dropping 10lbs wheel weight.

I don't think anyone knows 100% just yet.
There's like 5 people who have theirs but they do look like Fox shocks. (edit) doesn't look like Fox at all.

I’m ‘one of the 5’. It’s tough to tell … there’s no fox branding on the 392XR shock. Seems odd to me they would not brand the shock Fox if it actually was Fox. But, totally speculative on my part-

Any chance you could measure your shock's eye-to-eye length at ride height?

I'm also looking for the compressed/extended lengths if you happen to have them off.

And for the search engines: 68546614AD, 68546615AC

Yeah, those don't look like Fox at all.
And the part numbers on the shock body don't appear in any searches. But clearly not a Fox shock.

ride height front appears to be ~21.5”, rear 24”

I should’ve measured flexed this weekend, but I was having too much fun😉
