The update didn't fix the backup guidelines for me, so they had to replace the entire head unit several weeks back. That finally did the trick.

Wow that seems pretty drastic.

They did it as kind of a last resort after 4 trips to the dealer and the update failure. Jeep Cares got Uconnect involved and finally got the problem addressed.

Mine disappear for a day then they are back the next. could care less really. Nice feature when it works but I still crane my neck around to see where I'm going! Old habits!!

I earlier indicated my backup guide lines disappeared after the Y07 update, they were gone but now are back working normally, doing nothing but the vehicle sitting 6 days. Odd. Problem likely not related to the Y07 update.

i just got a call from my dealership that I will need to have my unit replaced as well. I feel as though this is extremely drastic AND I can’t get a unit for another 3 months since they’re so behind with parts :’(

has the change in units still been working out for you?

Yes, it's still working well. Hope it does the trick for you, too.

I talked to Jeep Cares and I am told that this is a software glitch in the 8.4" UConnect system. New software should come out Q2 2021 to resolve it. I have found that if I reboot the system, the backup lines appear 100% of the time, (until they don't).

Here is the reboot process:
  1. Ensure your vehicle is in park and in “Run” mode.
  2. Press and hold down the volume and tuner knob buttons at the same time.
  3. Hold down the knobs for 10 – 20 seconds.
  4. After holding down the knobs, the screen should flash your vehicle brand name and then go dark.
  5. After a few moments the brand name will return, the system will reinitialize, and it will return you to the main UConnect screen.
I hope this works well for you.

There is another thread with same issues at:

I have this problem as well. Mine have been out for three months though, and have yet to come back despite trying a multitude of ways I've seen on youtube. It is really annoying.
