Honestly, it’s still a pandemic. We’re lucky they’re even making Wranglers. I mean, have you seen some of the Ford and GM lots lately? Also, the lack of color choices is probably based on availability as much as demand. We should be glad our choices aren’t limited to white or white.

Wonderful that Jeep has decided to offer 4.88 as stand-alone option on manual. THANK YOU JEEP!

I have a 2021 and would without question opted for the option. Well overdue.

Agreed. This option is one I've been waiting on if I want to trade in my '18 but I'm honestly confused if the XR package is now available with the 4:88 gearing as an added option and in the manual transmission. The order guide to me says yes but others here have posted no....so confused.

Edit - it's not available with XR package sadly. MH ERG is listed with the XR package which means must have the A/T with Etorque. Bummer. Already have new 315's on my Rubicon now which I could switch over but would really like the beefier brakes and suspension with the XR package.

Based on what Jeep has said, the following is known:

1. XR will eventually be available with a manual.

2. XR manual will be available with 4.88s.

What is unknown is:

1. When the manual XR will be available.

2. Whether the auto can get 4.88s.

3. Whether the manual can get 4.56s.

What's the pros/cons or difference between 4.56s and 4.88s. Thanks!!

Engine hits higher RPMs and operates in areas of Torque and HP curve all at slower speeds (think rock-crawling).

Potentially improved driving characteristics with larger tires.

For manual, can go slower with less clutch feathering less stalling.

No two of your unknowns are actually known. The 4:88 is for the manual tranny only and the 4:56 are for the autotranny only you will not be able to option these gears any other way.

I noticed that the 8HP75 price with the EcoDiesel dropped from $2500 to $1500....I hope this isn't a typo since it looks like it is still $2500 for other trims.

Jeep has stated this and I have read it somewhere else also but dont have the time to go searching. Also on the current order guide for 2022 the 4:88 gears is for manual only. The Recon pkg gears for the Auto is 4:56 only.

Interesting that the color keyed Rubicon fender flares (now called Highline) are part of the XR package for the Willy’s.

I’m planning on ordering a 2022 JLUR with a 6spd MT. I don’t plan on going with bigger tires at any point. Would it not make sense to go with 4.88 gearing and stick with the 4.1 with the LT285 tire?

A typo error would only make sense if it’s still $2500 on all other trims. If not, I really over paid for my MY21 I just picked up a week ago!! I paid slightly below invoice, but MSRP to MSRP my build would be 1700 and change cheaper if it’s not an error.:headbang:
