Yep, His first Vehicle was a Jeep at 15 1/2, then he got a 2 door JK, then my old JKU and he just bought his first brand new Jeep. That is a lot of jeeps for being 25. I'm on 13th myself, so I can't say much..

Maybe I could get a two door Jeep and put a car seat in the back.

I’d have no problem with a JK. JLs are too pricey for something that’s gonna get its ass kicked in some way by a new driver.

If you get him a jeep he will likely associate with other kids that have 4x4 trucks and Jeeps. this will motivate him to wrench on his own vehicle to make modifications which in turn will motivate him to get a job in order to earn money so he can afford to make those modifications. This will instill a sense of responsibility and you cant get that from driving a Nissan sentra or Toyota camry

Well, at 16, each of my two sons were allowed to drive MY 97 TJ that I bought new back in 96. Each of them had their eye on that Jeep since they were 3 and 4 respectively. When my older son turned 17 and the younger turned 16, I purchased a used 2011 JK and the older one began driving it.

My younger son is definitely the wilder one, and the allure of driving a manual TJ has gotten the better of him once or twice, going where he wasn't supposed to, getting stuck, but calling dad to help get him out. Each time, privileges were taken away for a bit, but that's what growing up is all about.

The boys continue to drive the jeeps, but they know they are MINE, until they finish college and I MAY allow them to keep them as theirs. They treat them extremely well and have respect for the jeeping lifestyle.

Here's a few pics of right after I picked up my 2018 JLUR. Great times, and a great family.

My 17 year old daughter, who has her learners, is pestering me to drive my Jeep. My answer is simple: "When your mother drives the Jeep, you can drive the Jeep." My wife has NO interest in driving the Jeep. I think I'm safe.

Nothing wrong with a Jeep just make sure it’s a 3.8 with a 4speed and put loads of armor on it it’ll be the slowest thing at school:LOL:

Don’t buy your kid a vehicle, make them work for it. They will appreciate it more and take better care of it. I wanted a jeep when I was 11. My parents told me to get a job and start to save my money. I saved my money and by the time I was 15 I bought a 44 Willy’s that was parked next to my grandparents house for as long as I could remember. I have had over a dozen jeeps since then. JLUR is the most comfortable jeep I have had and the TJ/LJ are the best for wheeling.

My wife said to me a few nights ago “our daughter should learn to drive in the 392.” I almost choked on dinner. My daughter will be getting an older 4 banger. They run forever, she can’t hurt it and it will be a convertible since we live in CA. I’m thinking two doors so there isn’t room for boys to try anything.
