Yeah
As someone who rode street bikes and built a few bobbers, fabbing custom pieces to me are the BALLS!!!!

Great job! I think i might go this route and get some 4D rock rails and fab then up to fit my 2D...

Did all the bolt holes line up or did you have to modify those?
yeah, learning to do stuff yourself saves lots of money, made my own bumpers, skids etc.

as far as the rails its direct fit, get the 4dr ones because they are readily available in my case, measure to make sure you use the right mounting and cut the section off that you don’t need. Your jeep will have all the holes to bolt directly on

just a simple cut and bolt on

Thanks for this list! I found the N-Fab Rock sliders with removable steps through your list. I installed them and love them!

This will work:

https://www.smsparts.com/2018-2021-jeep-wrangler-jl-softtop

I bought mine last year, but haven't really had a chance to use it yet. Tore a tendon in my arm and it's been a hard recovery, definitely not up to carrying a kayak right now.

But it's a nice system, bolts to the frame underneath the soft top. I put the top down, attach a modular kayak holder to the rails, and off I go. In theory at least. It wasn't cheap, like $400. But it's built in Pennslyvania and the company seems pretty responsive.

Thank you for this invaluable list! Can anyone recommend a smaller RTT to mount on the Maximus-3 roof rack?

Not sure how small you’re trying to go, but take a look at the Freespirit Recreations 49” Odyssey. I love mine.
plenty of room for two people and really easy to set up/take down.

Looks awesome! Do you have pics and can you explain how you attached it to the platform?

Retiring soon and want to go on an adventure. Just me so an RTT makes more sense than a trailer.

No pics at the moment.
It’s attached to the roof rack with four brackets. Each bracket is secured with two bolts. Than the tent secures to those with bolts in the T-channels on the bottom of the tent itself.
It might not make sense reading that (lol) but it works great. Freespirit Recreation was awesome to work with and answered all my questions prior to actually purchasing the tent.
I did a LOT of research and bugged a LOT of companies about tents. In the end, the 49” Odyssey fit my needs perfectly.
