I have the front and rear camera on my 392 and the videos are pretty solid on both., even after I dropped the rear camera installing the Teraflex tire carrier and nicked the lens.

The sensors handling of low light is embarrassing. It’s really bad at night.I have the front and rear camera on my 392 and the videos are pretty solid on both., even after I dropped the rear camera installing the Teraflex tire carrier and nicked the lens.
This is exactly why I justified the cost and install of the Oracle backup lights. It might look like I have headlights on my rear bumper...but I can see at night. Granted both lights have condensation in them at this point so it's definitely not the best solution and I am growing to regret the purchase just because of the pain in the ass of swapping them out (but I can see clearly backing up...)The sensors handling of low light is embarrassing. That looks like a defect to me. Even the cheapest automobile that incorporates a backup camera is far superior to that. The sensors handling of low light is embarrassing. It’s really bad at night.
Yeah daytime is not incredible but it’s livable. The low light sensitivity of the sensors on these cameras are garbage.
I own Canon R6. The amount of ISO you can bump these new cameras up to without sacrificing image quality is insane. Sensor technology is at its best. So no excuses for a backup camera in 2021.
Comparing the back up camera on a Jeep, or any vehicle for that matter to a current gen $2500 mirrorless camera isn't exactly a fair comparison. But I do agree that looks terrible. That may be worse than my '08 Infiniti M35 I used to have. The sensors handling of low light is embarrassing. It’s really bad at night.
Yeah I’m just happy to have the jeep. I can live with the quality for now hopefully replace it when all this BS settles down. It’s definitely not the same camera or sensor in my wife’s Sahara.Comparing the back up camera on a Jeep, or any vehicle for that matter to a current gen $2500 mirrorless camera isn't exactly a fair comparison. My wife has had a Sahara 4xe with both front and rear cameras for about 7 weeks and I have thought the back up camera looked really good. Though I must admit I don't know that I've seen it at night.
I have 2021 JLUR on order with both cameras. No offense, but I hope it looks better than yours.
Yeah, I'll just be happy to have a back up camera again when I get my JLUR.Yeah I’m just happy to have the jeep. I can live with the quality for now hopefully replace it when all this BS settles down. It’s definitely not the same camera or sensor in my wife’s Sahara.
That's pretty much what mine looks like at night too. Even worse when it's raining. That looks like a defect to me. Even the cheapest automobile that incorporates a backup camera is far superior to that.
Also this is with my motion activated flood light on. In complete dark it's even worse.I feel like mine is worse than others'.
Yeah there’s no excuse. It’s just a cheap camera with bad resolution and a poor sensor. This is currently my daily driver so it does play into a feature I find important. Also this is with my motion activated flood light on. In complete dark it's even worse.
Do you have both front and rear cameras or just rear? This is my (how do you say it, non-392, or maybe 392-less) rubicon. The 1st is just in park, the 2nd is in reverse. This is in a completely dark (closed) garage at nearly midnight.
