Ever watch a video on how an automatic transmission works? Just like the turbo encabulator... I still don't know how it works.... no matter how many 3d animations of just one set of planetary gears you show me....
Edit: Just to clarify, I know how the torque converter works, I know how a planetary gear moves, but just how the gear sets work together to create different gear ratios may as well be witchcraft for me.

The technic sets with the gears specifically have planetary gears among them.

Ah, I didn't get many technic sets. The sets I did have didn't include planetary gears. But if there is a cutaway model of a transmission, where I can follow the path of the energy from the input, clutch packs, gear sets ect to the output and kind of see it in motion I would be able to understand it. No success with YouTube videos so far. All of the commenters agree that its witchcraft... lol

Okay so with the mention of Lego I did a short search... This helps me visualize how it works it a lot better!
I guess you have to imagine that the input shaft on this build is really the clutch pack around the ring gears.
