I know others have mentioned their concerns with the 392 only holding 21 gallons of fuel.
I have heard about the long range fuel tank coming out soon and I believe that id going to be over $2k
What do you all think about this option? it also allows you to carry water on the side tanks of the bumper

I like the idea, but once you add the fuel caddy you're looking at $2,500. There are a few other options. https://www.extremeterrain.com/days...l-storage-can-cam-mounting-kit-kj50024bk.html

Great options! I like the ones that mount behing the spare, but one of the companies said that they reccomend to fill it before a trail trip and empty it after that they aren't the best with long term fuel storage.

I've got 100+ extra miles with these 2 cans on the back. Disregard the spacing to the trail rack--37's expected to arrive by the end of the month. I seriously considered the AEV option, but came back to @lodoffroad that was just like what I had on my JK for 10 years. This tire carrier has many options if you wanted to go Rotopax or split between gas and other options.

I will also vouch for LoD.

Top notch quality, durable, and it is strong.

A 392 you say...?

This would be a great idea but it`s over the max tow limit and would bring the mpg down to around 8 mpg, so you might be better off just walking or hitching a ride in a turbo 4 or V-6
My Raptor will sometimes get 17 mpg on the highway but when it`s pulling a trailer it really drinks a lot of fuel. I have tried towing with several of the tunes I have and the only advantage is the transmission tune, all the others just drop the mpg. It`s great to have a 36 gallon tank until it time to fill it up. The most I have had to spend to fill it up was just under $130.00 But the ride was worth

They make smaller ones for short trips around town. :like:

I like the way you think!

My brother had thought of something they used to do many years ago back when there were Van Inn`s, and customized Vans were king, and going camping in his van. It was involving a roof mounted rack and he had a plastic tank made to hold water for showers etc. along with a spare on top

I`m not sure if I want that much gas on top of me. I have a excellent fabricator that is looking into making a aluminum tank that would sit in the cargo area, possibly 4"-5" deep and baffled. I guess I could always put my fuel cell in the back

I do like the setup Jeepkin has along with the tank that mounts behind the spare. I really just want something somewhat safe but more importantly secure, so it doesn't get a set of legs and runoff.
I have seen Jerry cans on the back of a Jeep and they were marked Mens and Woman`s, not so sure I would want to unscrew that cap.

The way things go for me is that I will usually spend a boatload of money on making something that I can't find, and 2 months later it comes to market minus the headaches and high cost.

Just like the 392 Recon Rubicon had to come out 2 months after I took delivery of my 392 Rubicon....

I thought about the 4 or 5" deep tank in the back of my 2-door, until I did the math. Four & a half gallons hardly seemed worth the effort.

What I settled on was was just doing some advance planning. When I'm going to be doing something that may require more gas, I'll plan to camp, and load a few jerry cans on the utility trailer with all my other camping gear. My 3.6 gets good enough mileage I haven't had to tap into that gas yet.

But with a 392, Your Mileage Will Vary, lol...
