Hello

Please provide your professional opinion
JLU 2018 with 37500 miles
While driving on the highway the engine shuts off
And after many attempts, I was able to start the vehicle
I heard knocks at the bottom of the engine
I immediately took the vehicle to a JEEP service center
After disassembling the motor we saw that all the connecting rod bearings were clean
And what's weird here is a connection drop
Found worn
Engine oil was replaced every 7500 miles with original MOPAR oil
What do you think caused the problem?

I can't give you a professional opinion, but my guess is you lost oil pressure which is why the engine shut off. I can't think of any other way to spin rod bearings like that.

So the question is, why did you lose oil pressure?

thank you very much for your answer
I wish I knew what could have caused the oil pressure loss

Your oil is full of metal, that’s why it’s sparkling. That engine is toast.

You are also showing the wrong side of the bearings. They look like they moved in the cap but what does the crank side face of the bearing look like? What does the crank journal look like?

That seems like a lot of metal in the oil, definitely looks like premature wear and likely a spun rod bearing, which was your "clunk" noise. Time for a new engine or a rebuild.

It’s not ruined because of the oil, the oil is the evidence, not the cause. Something caused a major loss of oil pressure. You will likely never know, as a detailed tear down is expensive and unnecessary. What was your indicated oil pressure when the noise started?

It is the crankshaft that spins inside the bearing. This is also where the oil comes from to lubricate the bearing. If there is not enough oil between the crank journal and the bearing face, the crank grabs the bearing and spins it causing the wear marks you see on the back side of the bearing and in the face of the connecting rod cap. Sometimes there is enough heat generated that the bearing welds itself to the crank.

Almost certainly caused by oil starvation to that rod journal. Why? who knows? As mentioned the oil should have been fine, the interval on changes a bit long for my taste but unlikely the cause.

I would agree that a detailed forensic is wasted effort. You need a rebuild or replacement regardless.

Thanks for the explanation
Definitely, a new engine
But the manufacturer disclaims the warranty

You must be overseas. This is a clear warranty repair, so long as the oil filter isn’t installed still wrapped in a plastic sack or something.
