How cool!
I wouldn’t wanna know the alternate sequence of events if his vehicle didn’t have easily removable roof panels. Especially with that adorable toddler as a passenger.

I think there were 2 young kids in the vehicle. One of the rescuers is holding another child.

Exceeded the maximum water fording level.
It's an easy rule of thumb, as soon as the lower door hinge goes under your #1 priority is to find shallower water.

But this wasn't bad decisions, it was a flash flood. It went from dry ground to that in 60 seconds. The guy's only fault was not realizing he was in a dry wash and there was severe rain up to 100 miles away.

You can get rescued through the removable roof panels.

This drone image provided by the Golder Ranch Fire District shows firefighters safely rescue a man and his two daughters from the roof of their vehicle after it was swept away in fast moving water just north of Tucson, Ariz., on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. (Golder Ranch Fire District via AP)

Even in the face of death, I probably would've tried to climb in the back and put the panel in the storage bag so it wouldn't get scratched.

Yeah I would have uninstalled my Bestop Sunrider before getting out :CWL:

I'm glad everyone's ok.

When I first read the thread's title I wondered to myself if Freedom Panels can be used as floatation devices.

Can they? Do they float (enough to keep a person above water)...as opposed to keeping the Wrangler from submerging if upsidedown....

Big :like: to that crew. Swift water rescue is no joke, it is some serious schnitzel that will pucker your rear end up. Looks like they did an awesome job. Glad everyone made it out okay.
:captain: to GRFD!
