Looking to possibly go with 35s on my Rubicon and would appreciate any and all feedback; pros/cons/which ones to go with/etc.

No lift and keeping factory wheels. 35x11.5 tire.

Probably Toyo or Nitto?

Using the same tires year round with tread comparable to factor Rubicon. Driving is primarily city and highway.

Much appreciated.

I added 2” lift, 20” with 35” on my Sahara 9/10/2019. 35s are TOYO Open Country A/T II XTREME (35X12.50RTLT).

Mine is my DD.

Setting at around 33k miles on them.

they are doing very well.

would do it again.

Could you post some before and after pics?

Not looking to go with any type of lift just upgrading the tires to 35s that shouldn't be a problem right?

If you’re putting the 35 inch tires on the stock wheels you’ll be fine. I don’t have any pictures but I’ve seen multiple Rubicon‘s with 35 inch tires and stock wheels without a problem.

You’ll find a lot of detailed discussion about this topic in the wheels/tires sub-forum. I just added BFG 315 (35) K02 in C load. I do have a lift and Mopar beadlock capable wheels, however. But as far as the tires, I really them and with the Rubi I still see 8th gear all the time (no need to re-gear). The BFG 315s are a bit smaller (and lighter) than others (e.g. Nitto).

I went with Wildpeak M/T true 35x12.5x17. A 12.5 tire width will most likely require a new rim as the factory wheels are only 7.5" wide and generally 12.5" wide tires require at least 8.5". Can you mount them on a stock rim, sure, should you..up to you. You can buy 35's that are not that wide though, Toyo and Nitto both have tires in 35x11.5.

If you go with the 35x12.5 you will need to build out the bumpers for the spare, this can be done with 1.25" PVC pipe and some black leg caps from a hardware store.

Definitely not looking to change the rims as I intentionally got those specifically.

So going to 35's I would need something with a 35x11.5 tire? Probably Toyo or Nitto?

I got 35x12.5/17 Goodyear Duratracs installed by the dealer. No rubbing so far.

I have the 2" Mopar lift and added adjustable front/rear track bars.

I ran 315/70/17 KO2's which is exactly the same as the 35x12.5x17, except they are C load range rated which makes them lighter and ride MUCH better. They were outstanding on and off the road. I have just a week ago swapped them out for General Grabber X3 mud tires in 35x12.5x17 also in a C load range rating. I think they may even ride smoother than the KO2's, but at least as good. The KO2 was excellent in snow, too, btw.

Anyway, I run them at 30psi cold. The KO2's still have a lot of tread left after 47k miles and a 5 tire rotation. I'll be throwing them onto my JK at some point, but I think they could have gone 70k or so.

Power wise, the 35's will work well with your 4.10 axle ratios.

Oh, and one more thing. I have mine on the same stock rims you have and they are great. Some will say they are too narrow. They are not. They are fine. The narrow rim is known as a poor man's bead locker and they also keep the weight down. Also, if you air down for off-roading, they bulge out nicely and protect your rims.
