We have the same need for articulation here as you would imagine. I don’t have any rubbing anymore. I removed my rear bumper and heated up and reformed the plastic on the inner fender well, behind the tire. Not much at all. That’s the only rubbing I experienced. The front is all taken care of with steering stops. Heres a couple pics of mine with the adjustment. A couple are with my 4 door. Same setup.

All these are at their max bumpstop and turned as tight as you can go. You can adjust more or less but I have put this thing is some crazy positions and it’s fined tuned and performs flawlessly.

A wider wheel will change the offset though. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it can lead to undesirable handling effects, and by putting the weight of the tire and wheel assembly further out from the ball joints it does add to the stress that is placed on them. AEV is one of the few wheel manufacturers who has taken this into account and their wheels have very little change to the stock offset, which keeps the scrub radius the same as stock when on a 35-37 inch tire. The steering angle inclination is 12 degrees and can't be changed. So a wide wheel with a large positive scrub will cause premature stress to the ball joints, and tie rod ends as it puts stress on both in different ways. And it can cause steering issues. We need to be careful when choosing wheels.
Yes the scrub radius is what many people do not understand...it causes more wandering potentially on the Highway and different handling as well as the increased stress...yeah my 37s are hard on my Nall joints but hey I wanted to minimize the stress by not adding spacers on top of that lol

Hi. Can you please clarify your photos:
Are the tires 37x12.5 on factory rims? or 35's

What type / size Lift?
What type / size Spacers?

Question for Anyone?
Do you get any sway or slop from mounting them on the stock 7.5" rims?

(I want to go from 35s to 37s on my 2dr Rubicon factory rims with a 3" Tereflex Lift and spacers)

Many Thanks !

2,500 mile road trip to moab and back. Fins & things, hell's revenge, top of the world, poison spider, golden spike, gold bar rim, and gemini bridges without issue. 500 of those miles were in and around moab, both on and off road at 18-19 psi because I hate airing up and down. Tires grip amazingly well, walked right up the waterfall on gold bar. No bead issues, rolled smooth at 27 psi the 1,000 miles home. Good thing I don't listen to internet experts for wheel/tire decisions?
Hey Zandcwhite I did many of those trails (plus White Rim, Elephant Hill and Lanthrop) with my stock Rubicon rims and 35s last month !
Soo Fun !

Am I correct that you are running 37s on the stock Rubicon rims? What Lift? What Spacers?
Also, did you have to modify your rear (plastic) bumper / third brake light for the spare?

Budget spacer lift from extreme terrain, added metalcloak rocksport shocks for more travel. I don't remember the brand of wheel spacers, 1.5" hub centric. We have the Mopar steel front and rear bumpers. Added the go rhino spare tire bracket which moves the tire out and up a couple inches. 3rd brake light clears the tire with it fully extended.

Thanks for the tips. I just installed 37’s last week and I’m very happy with the choice !
Although it does seem to downshift ever so slightly sooner up steep hills , It rides great.
I put a 5/16” 5x5 spacer behind the spare which bumped it out perfectly to clear the 3rd brake light AND my Tereflex hi-lift jack mount. No spare lift kit necessary.

Can’t wait to take it back to Moab to feel the difference from my (not-so) old 35s !

For you guys that ran 37s on stock wheels, suspension with spacers and the stock plastic rubicon bumper; did the tires rub on the bumper when turning. I have a 2019 JLUR. I’m soon to install Tera flex 1.75 inch spacers. I was gonna go with 35s but am now thinking of 37s. I do plan on lifting in the future and replacing the bumper but want to know in the mean time if I’d be good with the stock bumper with no lift.

I have the white two door pictured above with 37s and a plastic rear bumper. Rockhard front bumper mid width.
My TeraFlex lift is 3 inches. I don’t recommend a spacer style lift.
Just spend the few extra bucks and get a proper lift arrangement. Don’t risk ‘poser’ status.

Our "poser" has been posed all over moab, tillamook, big bear, the Sierra Nevadas, deserts in CA, AZ, and NV, but spacer lifts don't work.

I should’ve been more specific. I’m going to add wheel spacers soon. My plan is to one day get a 2.5 inch Rustys Offroad lift. I was specifically referring to the plastic front bumper.

Gotcha. My poser reference was to those who use a mere spacer lift just to mall crawl with big tires.
As long as you have a legit lift kit you should be OK with 37‘s but I would recommend a bumper designed to give you more clearance. Sorry I can’t opine on the plastic one.

My post was disproving the idea that you can't wheel black diamond/ 7-9 rated trails with a simple spacer lift. 2.5" no name spacer lift and 37's have made it through everything from the dusy to Holcomb creek to top of the world. I have no doubt we will have no issue on the Rubicon when we have time to get up that way. Don't be afraid of the spacer lift, they work just fine.

Good to hear. I just upgraded my 35s to 37s (still on the stock rubicon rims) and I was concerned about their ability to handle them.
Rides great though.
(Almost all my off-roading occurs in Moab)
