Hi All, I have heard of adding larger tires to the Rubicon. My question is : Can 35 tires be added on a 2020 Shahara without lifting it? What is the largest size wheel that can fit a Sahara without a lift kit and stock bumper?

To answer your question: you cannot fit 35-inch tires on a stock Sahara.

The largest you can fit without rubbing is 285/70R17 (32.7 x 11.2 inches).

Or you can fit 275/70R18 (33.2 x 10.8 inches) on your factory Sahara 18-inch wheels, with a slight rub at full articulation.

The latter is the setup I have and am very happy with it.

Did your stock rims fit into the 275/70R18 (33.2 x 10.8 inches) wheels without issues?

Thank you for the insight. It is helpful. I currently have the 255/70R18 Allā€“Terrain Tires on it from the factory.

Yes. That tire size is not a problem for the factory wheels.

I read somewhere you can ā€œsafelyā€ mount up to 295 tires onto a 7.5-inch wide wheel. Not that that tire width would fit a stock Sahara, though.

Thanks! Looks like you can put 35s on stock non lifted Saharas according to the video.
That thing is going to be rubbing like crazy the moment you get some articulation going.

Good luck.
255 factory to 275 means what? It's 20 mm wider on the tread pattern right?
I have the same rims and was actually searching for this exact info. Where's it rubbing? Inner fender? When you turn extremely sharp? Where on the inner fender? I'm looking for just a tad bit more aggressive stance width wise. Are the tires now right at the egdge of the fender without going past it? Got a front end pic by chance so I can see how far it sticks out?

Yes: 20mm wider.

It rubbed at full articulation when I was on a trail. To be honest it was so light I didn't pay much attention. My guess would be the plastic front air dam.

Tires stayed within the fenders. Here is a side view.

I went with 18ā€ Fuel Beast wheels with 275 70r/18s and a 4.5 backspace and never had a problem with rubbing.

Hey Aldo. Do you have any spacers or a lift of any kind? or is this just 275/70R18ā€™s on your stock Sahara?

Thinking of doing the same thing on my stock Sahara. I have no interest in lifting and I want to maintain the ride quality and MPG as best I can whilst achieving a more aggressive tire look.

Another question I have is would I need to do any change to the programming of the Wrangler to adjust for the new tire size? Or is it a negligible enough change to where it wonā€™t affect the speedo?

I love the look of your Wrangler šŸ‘€ā¤

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks! On that photo it had a leveling kit - 2/3-inch in front and 1/5-inch in rear. It didnā€™t rub 99% of the time; rubbed only once in extreme articulation.

If you never plan to take your Sahara off-road, my guess is you can probably mount those tires without a spacer lift and never rub.

My JL came from the factory with the speedo off by 1.5 MPH; it was spot-on with the 33-inch tires!

Thanks for the response and the warm welcome to the forumšŸ˜Š! When you had it setup with the leveling kit did you notice any significant change in the ride quality at all?
