Well...one week in the shop and I got it back today. Mostly okay...the front driver door which had bubbling at the bottom and clearly required a repaint doesn’t quite match and there are some imperfections in the paint...
I guess it was too much to expect anything better....even from a dealer body shop.
Also the chipped screws from where they took off the doors and hinges.
I’m done...riding the lease out, and I’m out...I can’t blame the body shop.
Sorry Jeep, unacceptable.

I feel bad man this is my favorite color a automotive company ever put on a car. It’s a shame they only ran it for 2 years and a shame it has to get ruined like this.

This is happening to mine pretty badly on all hinges and the doors around the hinge. Sucks because I'm sure they won't be covered by warranty now. Has there been anything from FCA on this?

Check with your dealer. Mine said five years on corrosion. Just got mine fixed..

Research rust and/or corrosion on the current Ford truck forums. They are having some serious challenges. Wonder how many will leave Wrangler only to have similar issues with Bronco?
Already now about the rear end rust it did take time to decide if I wanted to deal with that

Your dealer was being generous. The corrosion warranty specifically says that it only applies if a hole develops.

This Jeep has been repainted from the 4 doors and we do not see any difference. Your painters must be from the building ... or are not very talented.

We have, I believe ... an Audi A3 that has no aluminum problem. Mine is from 2016, hood and windshield surround are aluminum and nothing problem.

mine are bubbled all over. I think i'm gonna wait till the bitter end of the 5 year before I bring it in. I use my jeep for weekly kayak fishing trips. If they take my jeep for a month and I only get a jeep compass loaner. I'll be super upset. So i'm just gonna wait it out.

How can we find out if this is being addressed? I’d like to order a new Jeep, but I’m pretty reluctant until I know this is dealt with. @JeepCares
it's not being dealt with, and i honestly wouldnt expect it to be. they're making them the same way as they have for the past 15+ years.

at least you know about this issue before you purchase one. again, not everyone may have this issue, but it is an inherently poor design that has a good chance of developing the issue if you don't take preventative measures right away. the good news is that this is something pretty easy to tackle yourself, if youre okay taking a breaker bar to your brand new jeep and doing this work yourself and spending a couple extra bucks

What is the proven preventative tactic once you separate the hinges from the doors? A thin layer of fluid film?

i wouldnt call it proven only because ive only had my jeep for about a month, made my first payment today as a matter of fact  however, in theory it should work. my hinges are also powder coated all the way around.

theres lots of other things you could do tho, por15, paint the bare metal yourself, etc. to me fluid film was the most fool proof way of doing it since im not going to pretend that i know how to prep aluminum for paint better than FCA does.

WD40 has also been mentioned, im sure it works but my opinion is that there are better products out there for this application

It would be nice to know the percentage of them that are having this issue. If it was only like 20%, I’d feel a lot better. If it’s 80%, I’m not sure I’m even going to buy one.
