Am I Crazy to want to keep Stock Wheels?

Btw, the narrow stock rims with 35's act like a poor man's bead lock. It is very hard to unseat the bead on them and the bulging of the tire when aired down provides some protection, too. Win win.

I just got back from Moab and they performed beautifully. Plus, I think they are easier on the wheel bearings than wheels with more backspacing or running them with spacers.

I kept my stock rims for 11 months. Ended up with a 2.5" lift and 37" KM3s.

I loved the way they stayed tucked in and kept things from landing on the hood. And they didn't rub with the 37s.

I just recently gave in to bronze. Now they stick out.

You might consider the new MT Baja Boss AT in 255/85R17 (35x10.5x17). They'd fit on the stock wheels, but might be a little stiff (load range E).

Yep. Personally, I find the stock Sahara wheels (skinny 35s & no spacers) look better than most aftermarket options out there. That’s just IMO.

But hey, whatever float your boats right? For me, I like to keep $1500 in my pockets to do whatever.

Also, I get a lot of praise on these wheels, even though they are stock. Interestingly even my clueless dealer service rep told me my ‘custom’ rims looked “bling”.

So hey, if people can’t even tell they’re stock. I’ll take that as a compliment.

Great looking tire! Wish they had some in the C load range, particularly 34s and 35s.

Anyone ever considered having their stock wheels widened? If you added 1" width to the wheels and also a 1" spacer, you would end up with the same backspace as stock. It would be a 17"x8.5" with the equivalent of a 31.75mm offset.

I think BFG also makes an 11" 35.
OP, you might just put the tires on (I agree about not going wider than a 11.5 on the stock wheel) and see if you even want a lift. For the four wheeling you're talking about doing you may be just fine, and keeping lower center of gravity is almost always a plus!

Shouldn't need spacers if you go that route first since you have the nice & wide Rubicon axles

That's my plan: no lift, 11.5" wide by 35" mud tires (probably Nitto) on stock JLUR wheels. My neighbor with a JT wants to buy the 33's that come on mine. Because my new Jeep is arriving later than expected, I'll have a few thousand miles on the 33's before I get a chance to swap them out. Any thoughts on how I should price the slightly used 33" Falken Wild Peaks?

ALL stock rims are 7.5, with the same back-spacing.

Except for:
High Altitude = 8.0" wide
Mojave = +37mm offset

The tire profile has a large effect on wheel-tire compatibility. I suspect anywhere stating a 285 won't fit on a 7.5" wheel is not considering anything larger than a 40 or 45 profile. Generally, the taller the sidewall allows for a much larger range in wheel widths than a shorter sidewall.

That's great! the thought that was even possible never occurred to me. If I may ask, what does that cost for 5 wheels, roughly? Not sure I'd want to do it, as I'm very happy with the current setup, but it certainly gives food for thought and is great to know it can be done!

Also, do you have pics of a Jeep that has these on it?

I am digging the Quadratec look-a-like wheels. I had no idea they were available in 8.5" width.
