I've bought the Mopar lifetime MaxCare with a $10 ded. for our two previous Jeeps. The lifetime is no longer offered but I plan to get a Mopar MaxCare for our 2020 Recon. Since it now has over 12k miles the price on these plans increase quite a bit.
I read an interesting idea on another forum where the person said he treats an extended warranty like catastrophic healthcare insurance and so he bought a plan with a large $500 ded. to protect him financially if something major breaks. I'm going to look more into that.
Anyway, there are lots of threads on here about extended warranties and many opinions about whether or not to get one. One common theme is to not get an aftermarket warranty. If you do end up buying one get the Mopar plan.
The price at the dealer is usually WAY higher than what you can buy the exact same plan for online or from a handful of popular sellers mentioned on the forums. Tom Winkels is one of those low price sellers. He saved me $1,500 off the cost of my lifetime plan vs what my local dealer wanted for the same thing.
The price difference between these two is significant - about $1,100 for a $200-deductible and $1,300 difference for a $100-deductible.I’m trying to decide between the Max Care and the Added Care Plus. I’m at 17k miles after 10 months of ownership so I drive a lot. I know I’m going with the 7-year unlimited mileage option but can’t decide if I need the Max Care or not...
Short answer, it depends I was just talking to my dealer about this last night. My MOPAR lift and 35's will be installed by them so no question they will cover repairs without blaming the lift and tires. We are getting proximity locks, heated seats and heated steering. If any of those fail it would be hard to blame the lift, bumpers or tire carrier. My dealer already gives me a 100K powertrain warranty BUT the Maxcare will cover electronics / computers which can be some of the most expensive fixes. I'm still mulling it over BUT I have had extended warranties pay for themselves every time I bought them. Also, if you sell private sale it's transferable (and a nice selling point), if you trade you will get a pro-rated refund. How do modifications like bigger tires/lift/bumpers affect the extended warranty? Should you skip purchasing one if you plan to make mods like this?
I paid $2400 for a Maxcare 7-year/unlimited miles warranty. I’m sitting at 18k miles in my first 10 months of driving so I’m going to rack them up and need to be covered. I’ve already had way too many issues so far...
Any vehicle is a crapshoot. Prior to owning my Wrangler, I had a Pontiac G8 GT for over 12 years and almost 200,000 miles and literally had no issues with it whatsoever.wow...way too many issues already???
what were they?
Expect to pick up my JLUR 4/24 and post like this make me wonder
I guess you see many vehicles stranded on the road with major transmission and engine failures in your area. Lots of bad luck around those parts.I've bought the Mopar lifetime MaxCare with a $100 ded. for our two previous Jeeps.
