Removing interior support arm from tailgate?

I was just told that removing the support arm from the tailgate would help with the gate sagging with a larger spare mounted.

Anyone heard of this?

Doesn’t really make any sense to me.

Doesn't make sense to me either. Seems like it's on par with the advice of putting your cellphone in the microwave if it gets wet. Total BS.

It’s from a fellow Jeep owner. He has the generic Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit for sale on marketplace and I described what was happening with mine sagging/opening and closing hard with the 35 on stock mount. He said “if the door is getting stuck or any binding remove that bar and most of those issues will go away.”

The issues don't go away; The hinges are still sagging, you're just removing the part that is binding. This does not solve anything. This is bad advice from your friend.
