Got my Vaccine....And a VERY Cool Experience!

I went to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway yesterday to get a drive-through Covid vaccine and to my surprise, they did these in the Formula One garages! So I was obviously pretty excited about this. A soldier from the Indiana National Guard who was working noticed this and offered to take my phone and take a picture. He then ducked my Jeep, too! The icing on the cake was the drive down pit lane afterward.

I was shocked and amazed that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway did it this way!

Just got mine a few minutes ago and, well, it was substantially more boring.

I’m a huge NASCAR fan and a motorsports fan in general so I love seeing these tracks using the facilities for this type of thing.

That is so awesome. I went to a practice day once and was shocked by how narrow the track really is and especially how narrow pit lane was. What an awesome National Guardsman to not only get your pic, but duck you too. I really want to get the vaccine but I am sure I won't get this same type of experience. Good for you!!

Got mine at Texas Motor Speedway but they just used tents in the parking lots.

I got my immunity by getting Covid, looks like your way is more fun.

That's a really awesome, creative way to make it a cool experience and utilize existing space. I'd have loved that and I'm not even a racing fan, glad you got that experience!

I leave in a few hours to stand in line in a civic center for my second shot haha...

I got the J&J single dose last weekend. Not bad - wasn't nearly as cool a location tho. All I got was a school gymnasium.

I got the Johnson and Johnson, so 1 dose. But the real fun began long after that pic was taken, which was at 10am. At about 7pm, serious fatigue set in. So I went to bed. Then by 8pm I had a 103 degree fever and murderous headache until 3am. The fever is long gone, but the headache is really weird. It comes and goes every 5 to 10 minutes. Ugggh.

I've called around, beginning with my Dr's office. As I'm not a front-line medical worker (and God bless those who are), and since I'm healthy and under the current age cutoff by a factor of decades, I won't be eligible for the vaccine for a little while.

In the interim, I do hope that the much-hyped expectation of herd immunity starts to take hold.
