ha, no magic: insurance. I now need a 4th, but the last one I got seemed better than OEM. It took a rock and didn’t spider, it’s the only alternative to the OEM; apparently the only difference is that it doesn’t have the Jeep on it. I feel that it’s different glass.

I will do for this Jeep, like I did for my 2006 Dodge Truck. I will wait until it has cracked.several places, or if it obscures my vision, then replace it. That should offset the cost of the Gorilla Glass. So far, no cracks on the JL., just a good sized chip, that was fixed.

IIRC it was $5/yr for me to add $0 deductible glass replacement on my Jeep through State Farm. Coming up on 2 years/24,000 mikes and haven't had ti use it yet.

I paid about $175 for my PGW brand windshield, installed. I figure that's about 6 of those for each Gorilla Glass windshields. I like my odds with the cheap windshield.

Mail Order can assist here. BAM Wholesale parts is a Jeep dealer. I've bought stuff from them before. The Gorilla windshield is only $672 from them (but don't know what shipping will cost).

My glass shop quoted $170 to install the HGP windshield in the JT.

Only certain states have glass coverage like that...it's not a particular insurer.

So basically Jeep is saying, "Here, buy this much better made and more expensive windshield to replace the inferior one that came from our factory".

Yep, along with (advice from my actual dealer)- "Buy an aftermarket steering stabilizer to replace the inferior one FCA provides, and oh yes- you should also replace your OEM ball joints, because they will likely fail within 30,000 miles."
