I can tell you my experience with my cars my drive way is a steep hill in the winter I call it the driveway from hell. So it gets slippery and hard to drive up even with tires so the first victim was my Infiniti when I reached the top all the lights came on it was diagnosed as the speed sensors and abs actuater (which alone was a 2k part) I had a tipped all the fluids let it sit for a day and all the lights magically went off. Second victim was my Jeep Grand Cherokee all the lights came on and then the wheels locked and I slid back and hit my rocks (thank god for the rocks or I would have slid off the hill). The third victim was this Hyundai Elantra which was a rental and all those lights came on but I shut it down for 4 hours and all the lights came off. My two reasons is either speed sensors or abs actuater.

New JLU owner here with less than 1k miles. My fiance and I decided to take our new JLU Sport on a 30 mile trail up to Duluth, MN. This trail is rated as "Easy" and is mostly just a scenic dirt road. The trail had some snow and ice which made it a bit more technical but still a beginner level. We were getting towards the end of the 30 mile trail and the sun is going down. The entire trail is extremely remote and does not have cell phone signal. We come across and newer Silverado that is completely stuck on a big snow drift. I get out and talk to them. They tell me they've been stuck there for 5 hours! :surprised:
I pull them out and we all decide to turn around and head back, the snow drift is too high to risk at this time of night etc.
On the way back I'm hitting a couple puddles and such, nothing crazy. All of a sudden the dash lights up and the Jeep shuts down.... Total :swear: moment.... We're still a good 15 miles from civilization and have no cell service. Outside temp is 12 degrees. We'ere thinking we might be spending the night here..
I start the Jeep back up and it's in limp mode. Won't let me go over 2k RPMS. My JLU is a manual transmission. The throttle is also really wonky. Have a CEL light, traction light and a warning that says "Service Stability Traction Control System."
I try shutting the Jeep down and back on but still in limp mode. I end up driving it over 15 miles to the nearest gas station in limp mode. Had to stay under 2k rpms and force it into each gear.
After letting it sit for 5-10 minutes at the gas station, it starts up and is no longer in limp mode. Still has a CEL. At this point we had to decide to try to keep going to Duluth or turn back. We had hotel reservations and plans since it's the fiance's birthday weekend...
We decide to head home. JLU drives fine on the way home. Next morning I'm on my way to the dealer and the CEL turns off..... :swear: They say they can't find any codes and that everything seems fine....
All in all, extremely disappointed in what happened and my fiance's birthday weekend being ruined.
Hi Butterybunz,
This is not what we hope to hear from our customers. We understand the importance of being able to rely on your vehicle and regret that your Wranglers performance had affected your weekend celebrations. We would like to make sure this is documented further within our systems for you. Please send us a PM with your VIN and any additional details.

Another issue is you may want to consider changing your user name.

I can't decide if it makes me horny or hungry but either way it is awkward.
Actually related... can we change our user names on here?

I have a side question here: will moderate offroading void your factory warranty in any way? Will they try to deny you on that if you have some kind of powertrain failure?

My JLU has acted funny in water too. Every now and then a large surge of water will cause the uconnect to go black and shut the audio off. It typically comes back in a few minutes. But each time it was a BIG splash of water (like a flooded section of trail, not puddles) associated with a jarring bump. Kills it.

Iā€™m just glad it kills the uconnect and not the ECU.

I would sure as hell hope not! These rigs are "trail rated". Seems to me that answers the question.

Not at all....unless you have a bad dealer.

This was covered....... yes, the axle TUBE broke.

He did the same thing again a few months later. The dealer said no, lol.

Personally, I had a driveshaft fail as a direct result off roading, and probably a steering stabilizer too. Both replaced no questions asked. (Along with a long list of other things on my JK, but not all were off road casualties)

I've had problems too with the Traction Control system. I had it in the dealer and they fixed some vacuum thing. But the warning came back on, guess I'll be heading to the dealer again.

Also, where is this trail up there? I've got nothing going on this weekend and might want to go up and check it out.

Added some pics to the OP. I don't see how the dealer couldn't pull a code history either. They just sent me on my way and told me to "keep and eye on it." I wasn't going to fight them about it because I was still trying to provide a good birthday weekend for the lady and didn't want to waste all day at the dealer.

I had similar lights come in on my '11 JKU and cleared as well, until finally the wheel speed sensor shit the bed and had to be replaced. Felt like the brakes were partially engaging at random times as I drove down the interstate. Weird stuff.

Sorry to hear of your trouble.. and makes me second guess taking mine off roading, but that was part of he draw.

I go that route to our cabin every summer.... is it anywhere from St. Croix falls to Danbury that you can go with the Jeep? I'm reading a special permit is required? can you go all year long?

Sorry for all the questions.. just want to make sure I don't do something dumb... :)
