Today, I installed the Smart Stop Start module in my daughter’s JLU Sahara and got mine in the mail.
My 2002 TJ just has full sized drums on the rear. I have not messed with the brakes on the JL yet.I haven't gotten into my JL to see, but the first few results on google makes it look like we still have the small rear drums for the parking brake. But yeah, the TJ used the small drums. My Prius has a mechanism built into the caliper that when pulled by the cable it applies the disk brake. So it is possible (and I'd guess common), just hasn't found its way into Jeeps yet. I wonder if they have a reason for that.
I think you may be in luck! Mine were a slightly different (older?) design, open/exposed on both ends.Well, we'll see how these DV8 hood latches hold up.... so far, I'm skeptical, given @Centurion07 's experience.
@MadDog27Just got the snap caps for the key holes in the doors. I thought there was one on the tailgate but I guess they don’t put those anymore.
I didn’t know there wasn’t a key slot in the tailgate until now but I like the cleaner look.@MadDog27
Those black covers really set off so to speak, your Yella..
Look great with your antenna that you painted black too.
Yup, no key slot on the tail gate with some of the newer JL/JLU's.
Hey!.... how does the Wife like the covers?
So, there's a glimmer of hope, yet! I just want these f*ckers to open when I need them to.I think you may be in luck! Mine were a slightly different (older?) design, open/exposed on both ends.
How involved was the removal of the soundbar?Replaced the soundbar speakers with the Alpine SPV 65 JLTs. I have the base audio system and these have made a big difference. Only a little louder but richer and more engulfing.
seems like it would be a pain but it wasn’t too bad. Just take off the panels either side and loosen the connecting ones, then remove the panel holding the done light to access the four bolts to remove the soundbar. Takes about 15 minutes. Search for these speakers on YouTube and there’s a long installation video someone posted that goes into detail for removing the soundbarHow involved was the removal of the soundbar?
I was looking at getting these but the price ... do you feel that it was worth it?Replaced the soundbar speakers with the Alpine SPV 65 JLTs. I have the base audio system and these have made a big difference. Only a little louder but richer and more engulfing.
I think so. Especially if you have the base system and just want better sound without the hassle and expense of adding an amplifier. Though I do plan to add one in the future. For sure, they’re not cheap but they are top quality and fit perfect. The biggest draw for me, outside of looks and quality of sound, was that they are also made to give you less lost sound with the roof and doors off.I was looking at getting these but the price ... do you feel that it was worth it?
Heck. Yes.Installed a Trektop Ultra...in the middle of winter.
