I have this ongoing problem with the 8 Speed Auto, Nanny Tranny. Every time I go through a car wash, I have to leave it in neutral. No big deal, every car/truck has to. Then, at the end, I have to shut the engine off, then restart it, quickly, and put it into drive. You cannot just pop it back in gear, like a normal car. Many times, it takes so long to get it all going, the car/truck behind me almost hits me. So, every time I go through the wash, I have to tell the attendant to give me 10 feet distance between my Jeep and whomever is behind me.
To me, this is unacceptable, and dangerous.

My carwash addict requires me to slightly press the brake then she will slide into drive from neutral, same goes for my Rovers. Rather annoying but that's how they work lol.

Had the same experience with one of my cars.
I finally learned you have to apply the brake first, then slip it in gear and go... you’ll get used to it quickly...

Are you putting the transmission or transfer case in neutral?

Something’s wrong with it. Mine goes right in from neutral to drive and back.

I guess mine is an extra special Nanny Tranny. It says to press the brake, hit the start button then shift into drive. It really pisses me off. It might need to be looked at, by the dealer, before the warranty expires.

I use the auto wash often, and have the 8 speed. I have never had this problem. Put it in neutral let the machine push me through and then pop it back into drive and drive away.
Same here like a normal vehicle.

What does the term Nanny mean in this?
Too many safety things built in. Because we cannot be trusted with a normal Tranny, like cars and trucks have had, for the past 50+ years.
