I am adventurous but for ME that means not following routes others have put together. There is nothing wrong with it but for ME I find exploring things on my own much more exciting. The reason I bring a dirt bike is to explore where few will or can go.

I think if most thought about it, the reason we like jeeping and overlanding is it brings back the kid in you again. When young it's all new to you and that brings excitement. We didnt have maps or any knowledge of what lies ahead/

Here in AZ I have explored quite a bit and discovered ruins and other amazing finds. I havent told a soul of there location and never will.. It would ruin the site and for other like minded explorers.

NICE! We'll have to visit. I plan on spending a week in NS prior to Newfoundland. I hear they now have a bridge into PEI now. That must have change things there.
Bridge in to PEI has been a thing my entire life hahaha but its free to get on the island not off so if you go, get on in NS with the ferry and take the bridge off

How many of you would pull a small off road trailer vs loading (or overloading) your Jeep roof rack with all of the same gear? There are pros and cons to both. I spent 20 years running a RTT with a certain British vehicle. My wife and I now take out our new JLUR diesel with an older, one off tow behind. Nearly all the gear lives in the trailer with an additional fridge/ freezer and lunch fixings in the back of the JL. This system has worked well for us and we can turn this trailer around on some very tight trails. Additionally, the tent is much lower to the ground so getting up at night ( yes, I’m over 70 and need to get up at night) is much easier. Center of gravity is much lower so we do do some interesting off camber trails either with the trailer or park it at our camp spot and go run the trails with a very light load of gear. I’d really like to hear your thoughts as I am new to the Wrangler forum.

I built this one from scratch on a M416 platform... Worked well as a base camp. If I did not need to haul the canoe and kayaks, I would have made the RTT Rack height adjustable. On a previous build I made the RTT the actual top for the M416 and took that trailer over the Rubicon trail without any problems.

Nice looking set up with lots of room and places to get out of the weather. In my opinion, and I’m wrong a lot, If you took it down the Rubicon you must have taken a few bypasses as the rear overhang does not lend itself well to that trail. It’s pretty amazing how you can haul all that gear too. Mine is about 1700 pound fully loaded and the RTT is it. No bikes or boats. Enjoy the journey and please keep the pictures coming.

I was into these things long before it was cool. Here is the original version of the trailer above back in 1998. I saw the 3Dogcamping RTT on a trip through Australia and had it shipped here to the states. There really was nothing available in the USA back then.

Really awesome! Same here. I built a small trailer mid 90s using two YJ rear tubs welded together. I pondered for a second on what to do with a dead space underneath where the tank sat. Duh, just put in a tank. lol I had a custom tank built holding 23 gallons with an electric pump transferring gas to the jeep. It uses the same fill spout as a jeep would use. Still have it.

With a wife, 3 young kids and a dog there is not much room for camping gear. I like to switch tops and run the softtop in the summer, so roofracks aren’t great for me. Plus I find putting a bunch of gear up that high as a bad thing for vehicle balance... but a trailer has its negatives too. I’ve had to do some gnarly reversing on narrow trails that were impassable the direction I was going. My trailer is basically a place to house a fridge and carry gear. But I also use it for getting firewood and Home Depot runs. It really helps make the jeep be more practical. I’ve built my m416 to use the same battery as my JK and same wheel/tires so if problems arise in the back country I have backups. Currently reworking it to do the same for my new JL diesel.

I don’t have any pictures of it with my JL, but I’ll probably repaint it to match my JLs color.

That Las to be a pretty nice, no nonsense set up. It looks to be light enough to unhitch and spin around by hand if your in a jamb and have a wee bit of room to either side. I too have had issues when the trail peters out and turning around. It’s great wheeling in the the pacific NW! Headed with my trailer to Death Valley end of March for a couple weeks of warmth and goofing off-
