In my area the Toyota Prius appears to be the preferred target. The local Toyota dealer charges $460 to install anti-theft armor on a Prius and $3000 to repair a stolen converter.

Car alarm is probably more cost effective because it has greater utility beyond just the catalytic converter.

in California im surprised they havent made a law saying cat armor is a felony.

I work for Panasonic near the legal center in NWK and have been to Japan many times. These Yakuza guys are no joke! In general, Mobsters from China or Korea or Japan or India may put their European and North American counterparts to shame based on how ruthlessly they operate. Do not let their small/skinny builds or their calm demeanor fool you. These guys are all capable of taking down someone four times their size in these countries.

No kidding. I had to go to Nevada to get windshield wiper fluid that works for Tahoe winters. It’s freaking ridiculous here.
