Installed my Mishimoto oil catch can today. It’s a pretty easy install. This one appealed to me because of the drain hose with shutoff valve. I didn’t want unscrew the canister, I’m way to clumsy, I could see the handwriting on the wall with that scenario, oil spilled everywhere............

My Artec inner fender wouldn’t let me attach the drain hose where they wanted it. So I decided to just leave it loose and I tied it up with a Velcro strap for now, and I can just unhook it drop it down when I need to empty it........:).

I didn’t install it for the increased horsepower and improved gas mileage.....:giggle:....... more for when we’re on an inclined obstacle to long and avoid this.......

I bought the same catch can about a month ago after 3 days of wheeling in Moab. I had a few concerning smoke shows that I’m hoping this catch can will stop. I hope the drain feature ends up being as convenient as I’ve made out out to be in my head. Haven’t installed it yet

My wife was making the case that these things wouldn’t happen if we just took the bypasses🤷‍♂️

Just added this to our recovery gear box, you never know. We are out solo a lot so thought it couldn’t hurt.

We were off camber and it felt like we were on a wall, but the off-road pages said 25 degrees roll. So the wife downloaded a clinometer app on her phone and put it parallel with the screen. and it showed 30 degrees. I wonder if this is the limit of all Jeeps clinometers or if mine is broken..🤔

Hey can you give more details on the Locker bypass? I was out playing today w/ 4HI and 4LO and could use the lockers in 4HI most times instead of going to 4LO. I have the Tazer but it doesn’t seem to work all the time.
So...does the factory Locker switch work? Or is everything through the Aux switches? Is there a Rear and Front and you just engage both switches if needed? Thanks

Sure..... do you have your tazer updated with the latest software update. At least 11.2.0. The locker feature on mine was a little buggy in the early going, but it works pretty good now, it does sometimes takes a little longer to say it’s disengaged even though it is.

The aux switch hack operates the lockers instantly. I have mine wired to # 3 & 4 . 3 for the front and 4 for the rear. You can engage them in any variation. Front or rear alone or front and rear. Here in some of the sugar sand trails we use 2 wd with the rear locked , you’d be amazed where just that will take you, lol.

The only drawback running the aux switches is the symbol on the dash that shows you locked doesn’t come on and there’s a service axle code that pops up when you start the engine, then goes out , kinda like the seatbelt sign. Also there’s an exclamation point light that stays on over the fuel gage. These codes appear because your eliminating the computer from the equation. The wiring harnesses are just hot and ground, and the factory harnesses are a 4 wire harness. Hot , ground, one to the switch, one to the computer.

Also an unexpected perk ........ lately there have been reports of guys having problems with diff oil penetrating the locker module and shorting it out, and the lockers won’t work. If this happens to me , I just unplug the factory harnesses and plug in my aux switch harnesses and I’m back in business.

Hope this helps........:)

Great
FYI, RCV’s in without FAD and I can’t tell the difference.

That’s great, I tried the one piece but I run over 6 degrees of caster and I got a vibration over 60. It wasn’t horrible, but it still bothered me, so I sold them and got the two piece rcv.

We’re trying to do a second annual, but this year the Forest dept. decided to not issue any permits for Jeep groups during hunting season, it goes with way the year has gone I guess. There’s talk we might do a beach run this year, we’ll see how it plays out.

I decided to ditch mama’s silicone baking pan and use tesa tape to cover the top of my relay switch.

I liked the idea of the muffin pan cover but couldn’t get it stay on while wheeling. A few drops of silicone caulking on the corners would probably work, but I think the tape looks cleaner and it’s definitely not coming off.

Small thing, but I’m not crazy about leaving the top of that relay exposed because I’m always under there piddling with something, and it’s inevitable I’ll short it out.....

We went out today to test out the catch can, it seems to be working, no smoke.

Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… A368E965-E5DD-4B6A-9EAA-795BAE9501CF

Also... while out today I noticed the sway bar end links are rubbing the inner liners. I had to put a spacer behind the liners so they wouldn’t rub against my resi hose.

So I decided to just cut a section out, this gave me the clearance for the sway bar end links and I don’t have to worry about any rubbing of the resi hose.
