I posted this in another section but didn’t get many replies, I’m hoping I’ll get more here in general discussions.

What’s everyone’s favorite CB/VHF Radio to run in the JL?

I have no radio of any kind yet and want to just do it once. The right way the first time if possible LOL.

What mounts are you using and why are these your favorites?

Antennas and mounts?

Any inputs are appreciated, bring on the Jeep goodies Fam!!!

seems like everyone is using GMRS radios now.
i picked up a Midland MXT275 on sale not that long ago that i'm in the middle of installing it now. The topsy mic and fender antenna mount make mounting everything clean and easy.

I have the Cobra kit from cooltechllc but no one uses CBs anymore on the trail it seems everyone has GMRS and so I picked the upgraded version of this.... https://www.cooltechllc.com/2018-je...-all-in-one-kit.html#/86-upgrade_to_mxt400-no
Thank you for the link and recommendation!! Seems this is the modern consensus!

I went with them because it is always a clean install and very nice.

I went and got my Ham license and GMRS license. I bought a HAM with the Mars Mod so it can do both.

Did you get the 275 or the 400?

I kinda want the extended range of the 400 and the extra Benjamin isn’t a big deal to me. Is the 400 harder to mount?

The controls are on the radio and not on the mic. I like to 275 because can mount the radio under the seat out of sight

I got the 400 because I wanted the range, the other is more convenient yes but where I go wheeling I need the range more. I do a lot of by myself stuff. including camping and such.

I’m thinking I also want the 400 for the same reasons.

Where did you mount yours?

GMRS.

A license is something like $70 for 10 years and good for every member of your household. I have (and use) the midland portable “walkie talkies” and they work great on the trail. I can highly recommend.
