I'm having a hard time debating whether or not to go with the 34" KO2 or go up to a 35". I already have the 2" Mopar Lift ordered but I'm worried about regearing with the 6 speed manual. Anyone have any input/experience? TYIA

are you on the sport axles? 3.45 gear ratio? if so i would go 35 and get 4.10 gears or swap to take off rubi axles. ill tell you that even with 33" tires with the stock 3.45 gears my jeep is a dog on any incline with the 6speed. I have planned out getting rubi axels mid year next year and going 35's with 4.56 or 37" with 4.88 gearing.

Yeah, 3.45 in the Willys Sport. I had a Gladiator Sport S with the 8SPAUTO on 33"s without regearing and it worked perfect.

I should add I'm not planning to do any major offroading, and I won't be adding steel bumpers or anything like that.

the 8 speed can handle the 33's no problem the 6 speed manual does Okay but its not great for climbing hills at all on an 6-8% grade i have to run between 3rd and 4th to keep 55-65 mph. its roughhhh. might work out better with your 2dr than my 4dr though as you weight a couple hundred lbs less. give it a shot. worst case you can always go to a 3.73 or 4.10 without issue

Just looked at the fine print for the 34" KO2 and they're actually 33.5 and by the time they're worn down it's probably close to a 33" ... Now my gears are turning no pun intended. :giggle:

I had 34x10.5 KO2s on my 2015 JKU Sahara: it is an excellent tire, albeit very expensive in that size.

My Sahara had a 2" Mopar lift as well. It was the best driving JK I owned.

I wouldn't make gearing the issue in deciding between a 34 vs a 35 inch tire, though. You won't really notice much difference in the acceleration. Especially not with a 8-speed automatic.

In my experience, tire width and weight were the biggest differences. There is a 11-pound difference in weight (55 lbs vs 66 lbs) between a 34x10.5 and a 35x12.5 KO2, and it showed very dramatically in the ride and the handling.

Good luck.

Did you upgrade the gearing though?

If the Sahara had the optional gears, it would have been fine. Why did you trade out of your Gladiator?
Yes. The Sahara came with 3.21 gearing, which was too high.

I went to 4.10 and it drove like a charm!

The wifes 2 door with V6 gas and manual has 3.21 gears. Bought it off the lot or it would have had at least 3.73s ordered. She never gets to use 6th gear most the time. She doesn't mind, so I'm not spending the $$ to change it. Maybe it was set up for a land speed record or something...
